First off, thank you Marvel for doing Marvel films the RIGHT way. I mean, it is your own material, so from now own lets just see you make it your way. Past Marvel films have been warm garbage [ex. Ghost Rider/ Daredevil/ Elektra] but, Iron Man is easily up there with X-Men 1 and Spider-Man 1. Honestly, it's easily Top 5 Superhero Movies all time. Iron Man is visually stunning, the storyline stays true the comics and the cast was really well put together. It has a very good mix of comedy, action, romance, drama. Good pacing as well. A really good movie to bring the family, date or just a bunch of your friends. Really, just go watch Iron Man and it will make your week. =] do it.

the ending was cgi heavy and abrupt. it was disappointing. does not rely on the power of iron man. everything else was good, skeptical going in regarding downey jr as a hero, but it fit tony starks personality.

Now maybe I'm biased, being the enormous Iron Man comic book fan that I am (I went in costume), but this film has got to be the greatest foray into super-hero flicks to date.
Produced in-house by Marvel, Iron Man gets everything "right" when it comes to character development. Nothing seems glaringly modernized, all of his greatest supporting cast members are wonderfully portrayed (including Happy Hogan), and the action sequences are fluid and dazzling.
Unlike previous CG super-hero attempts, Iron Man doesn't come off as computer animated; throughout the movie, my eyes were convinced that there really was a dude in a suit flying about and shooting beams and rockets at folks. It was such a sight to behold, it was enough to make me giggle. Yes, I giggled. It was truly fabulous.
If you feel that the genre is played out, go watch March of the Penguins 2. If you want to have a lot of fun, go see IRON MAN.

I went into Iron Man with medium to high expectations and was completely blown away. As good as Transformers. Some of the greatest one-liners and comedic timing of any action movie, certainly one of the best comic book adaptations EVER. I personally liked it more than Spiderman and X-men.

This was definitely a good movie. Having said that it was 2 hours long and there were parts where it dragged. It had several spots of humor during the slower parts and that helped, but still always knew you were watching a 2+ hr movie. The action scenes were great, when you got to them... Overall a good movie, but definitely fell way short compared to Batman Begins

Okay, so I walked into the theater not knowing what to expect. Last year around this time, Spider-Man 3 was my most anticipated movie of the year, and I must say, it was a bit of a let down in some aspects (namely the way a certain villian was handled) and well, it turned out it wasn't as good as I had hoped. This time around, with Iron Man, I went in without expectations. While I still feel The Dark Knight will ultimately be my favorite film of 2008, this will definitely have a shot at the #2 slot. Very solid storytelling throughout the film, and Robert Downy Jr's portrayal of Tony Stark was a nice surprise. I also have to give props to Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges for their roles in this. There was some cheese in this movie, but it's a comic book movie, so I can't complain too much about that. Don't expect a TON of action going into this. There is certainly enough, but don't think for a second this film is 2 hours of nonstop action, because it simply isn't. Oh yes, and do yourself a favor. Stick around until the end of the credits. If you are a comic book nerd like myself, you'll see something worth the price of admission itself. That's all.

I could have sat there for 3 hours and 6 minutes. One slow part after the opening. Stark was an intense character Downey was great. Pepper, wow smoking hot! Obadiah the opposite of a regular Bridges character. Did I mention Pepper, red hot.

It's 12:01 thrusday May first, what were you doing? I was sitting down with some candy, a coke and the best marvel movie ever. This is a great movie, not only does it explaine EVERYTHING about Tony Starks (Robert Downey Jr.) past leading up to him becoming Iorn Man. It also sets in motion a thrill ride of action with a great end. This is one you NEED to see. Oh yeah make sure you stay after the credits to see a little something REALLY cool.

I was thoroughly impressed with Ironman. The movie was made using concepts that could realistically be created. The storyline was well explained so the viewer understood how Ironman came to be (physically and mentally). Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect choice for this role, he brought Ironman to life. Can't wait to see the sequel!

Iron Man is an example of what all comic book movies should be. They keep the spirit of the character intact while taking the artistic licenses necessary to make a entertaining movie. Robert Downey Jr. is perfect as Tony Stark and the other actors in the movie manage to not drag his performance down. The movie has the perfect mix of action, comedy, and character development. Make sure to stay to the end of the credits for one of the best teasers in movie history.

GREAT, entertaining movie! I was blown away. great script, great effects, great leading man. Robert Downey Jr. is brilliant as usual. Jeff Bridges is compelling. If there is one weak point, it has to be Gwyneth Paltrow, but I didn't even care because Downey was so awesome.

Best Marvel so far hands down. They picked the best picked the best person (robert Downey Jr,) to play Tony in fact the casting was just incredible. Speaking of incredible the casting for all the upcoming marvel movies is pretty incredible. AND they set up S.H.I.E.L.D. in such a great way. AND just for everyones info. Tony Stark is going to at least appear in The Incredible Hulk. They are already flat out telling us there WILL be an Avengers movie it is no longer just announced. ITS HAPPENING!!!!

It is the best of all the super hero/ comic book movies ever! I am not an Ironman fan, but I loved this movie. It was not geeky, but it had a hip edge to it. Robert Downey Jr. did a terrific job, and his character is believable. Favreau did a beautiful job incorporating special effects to fit into the script.

I had my doubts with Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark, but I have to say I was wrong. He did a fantastic job and the cast in general was near perfect. The dynamics between them all worked perfectly, hats off to Jon on his selection. The story was great, I don't think I ever thought it was moving slow or was boring. The effects were amazing, it looked so real and not even close to lookinglike CGI. It was funny at times and had some really great action scenes that didn't go over the top, but were still able to keep you glued to your seat. This will probably be one of the best "Comic" based films of all times and IMHO easily beats Xmen, Fantastic Four, the first Hulk and rivals Spider Man if not slightly better. Again, I cann't say enough on how well Robert Downey Jr. did and how this proves that when he has it together he can be one of the best actors of all times. MUST SEE MOVIE!!!!

Never was a follower of Iron Man, but after watching the film - I AM SOLD. I held the last Batman flick as the 'best' hero flick to date, but Iron Man blows it away - literally. The only upcoming hero flick to challenge Iron Man is the upcoming Batman movie. Iron Man rocked!

A thinking man's superhero movie

I thought this was an extremely well-acted movie, with great special effects, a whole lot of style, with a believable plot (as far as these things go, at least). Point being that there were no major holes in the story that make you go back and say "...huh?" My only issue with the movie was that, as the title suggests, there is far more exposition than you normally expect in your run-of-the-mill superhero movie.
This isn't necessarily bad-the fact that there is more to the hero's decision to become a superhero than "I had a bad thing happen to me, now I want to save the world" is a good thing, and even though it does ultimately come down to that sentiment, you follow along Tony Stark's thinking and understand the many complex issues he's going through until he ultimately just says "screw it, time to beat up the bad guys."
This is a great ride, but ultimately results in a sentiment such as "ok, he's finally in the suit, but the movie is more than half over!" There is a reason why most "birth of" superhero movies get the formation out of the way in the first half, then sate the action-hungry crowd with plenty of punchification (yes, that's the technical term).
This movie contains only 3 major action sequences, and the second one is by far the best. It definitely keeps your attention between the second and the third, but whereas most action movies go out with a bang (so to speak), the final action sequence just doesn't give you that final adrenaline rush (although the reason why this happens is completely explained and fully believable). With that all said, the movie definitely still goes out on a high note, so you can still expect to walk away satisfied, if still craving a few more minutes of Iron Man kicking some serious tail.

Alright so first thing you must know is that I am a huge Iron Man fan and I have been for years. So I knew the source material. This movie stuck very, very close to the original comics, only tweaking a few things to allow it to fit the screen. There were plenty of things that would make us nerds leap for joy, plenty of little easter eggs for the comic book fans.
Even if you're not a comic book fan, The movie was great, and lived up to the hype. The acting was great. Robert Downey Jr. IS Tony Stark. He just brought the character to life. Terrance Howard and Gwenyth Paltrow really do an a amazing job as well. The special effects are seamless and incredible, as one has come to expect from ILM. The Movie is filled with Humor, but not cheesy humor that ruins the movie. It's also filled with a lot of great action, action that is more than just watching things explode.
Really this movie was great on every level, and is a movie that anyone can enjoy for multiple reasons. If you do not watch this movie, you are missing out.
