I give this movie 2 stars for the shear comedy of the movie. To see Renee Zellweger huddled in the corner and under the bed with the look of terror on her face from a 10yr old child was hillarious. I laughed the entire movie. Not in the least bit scary. At one point I laughed so hard my eyes watered. Wait for the dvd and then have a good laugh.

Not the movie I thought it would be but still good. The little girl is a very good actress! The movie was pretty sadistic to it's charachters and quite creative in killing them off so if you have a sick humor then you'll enjoy this, and if you liked to be scared and are easily scared them this one's for you too.

This movie is as funny as it is creepy.It grabbed my attention from the start to the end.I can that i was on edge as well as laughing through the entire movie because the little girl in the movie looked so innocent, calm and friendly.many people that left the theater after the movie said that it was awesome was great and that it have gotten more promotion

I like Renee Zellweger's acting - typically. I like horror movies - typically - especially original and well-made horror movies. I had high hopes for Case 39 and thought that the many negative reviews could be based on "elitist snobbery" from mainstream critics. Sadly, this is not the "case". This movie is not original and it is very predictable. It telegraphs everything from miles away. The acting is not up to par for the acting talent that is in this movie. This is likely the fault of the story, director and script. Better to stay home and rent better movies of the same ilk - like The Exorcist and The Omen.

I put that I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, because I LOVE horror movies and this wasn't as good as I expected. It was pretty good and had a few good scary parts, but if you REALLY like horror movies and enjoy being scared I would wait til it comes out on DVD. If you get scared easily then this would be a good movie for you.

This movie is suppose to be suspenseful, it is not. It is boring, slow, predictable, and not worth seeing even for free.
As much as I like Renee Zellweger, she must have done this one for the paycheck. It certainly won't enhance her resume.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this film, having known very little about it in advance. Once again, an evil (Satanic?) force has taken over the mind & body of a sweet, young girl (Jodelle Ferland) who has been rescued from an apparently abusive home by the initially clueless Renee Zellweger. Once it becomes evident that this little darling is not what she appears to be, all manner of supernaturally-initiated hell begins to break loose. Will good or evil win? This film does a pretty slick job of keeping us guessing clear up to the end.
The deaths & violence we witness in this film are definitely not for the faint of heart...it's a genuinely scary little movie with enough "GOTCHA!" moments to keep horror film buffs well-satisfied. Story-wise, it more or less borrows from THE OMEN, with elements of POLTERGEIST, THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES & THE EXORCIST added into the mix...so while it's not entirely original in nature, the cast (including decent performances from Bradley Cooper & Ian McShane) do a laudable job of presenting the story with good acting, a decent script, and convincing portrayals of the ever-mounting sense of dread."
...and here's an added caveat: If, like me, you are afflicted with apiphobia (a.k.a. melissaphobia), there is one particularly nasty scene that may make you want to look away from the screen.

Considering the movie subject, this could have been so much better. It was nice to see Renee Zellweger in a different type roll than all the cutesy ones she plays, but overall, the movie doesn't really explain what's going on with the girl and who she is or where she came from. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but definitely something you should wait to come out on DVD.

It wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't as scary and suspenseful as the trailer and clips lead on. My 14 year old daughter's first comment was, "Why was that rated 'R'?"
