Really great movie! I thought it was a great second installment. I took my husband and 5 kids and it was just perfect for the whole family! The action was awesome, and the comic relief was perfectly done, so it didn't get to deep for the little kids. Love, love, love this movie!

Take this movie as one that is character-driven, not plot-driven. The plot is fine for what it is, which is to say that it's a great vehicle for the movie's character developments and interactions. I loved the way the characters related to each other and were each developed, and I felt they did a good job giving attention to many characters within the span of only a few hours and with a whole plot to cover.

Loved it. But to me ithe substance was different from the first film. This Chornicle spends more time on confrontations and less on character development. I grew fond of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy in the first film watching them mature despite their insecurities. That depth and richness of character development has a largely diminished role in this film ... which was a notable loss for me. However, that level of character development and richness of story telling are replaced by elements which still pull together for a worthy, enjoyable sequal enjoyed by everyone in my family.

Having bought my ticket online and well in advance, last night marked the end of my six long months of waiting for volume four of the Chronicles of Narnia brought to film. Having no one to go with did not curb my enthusiasm in the slightest because the classic story of Prince Caspian has been with me longer than anyone I know around here; it is a story I've visited (with its six paperback companions) at least once every couple of years since elementary school.
Although small creative licenses were taken in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the film makers paid attention to minute details; from the way the sunlight reflects in Aslan's mane to the fly buzzing on the windowsill in the land of "Spare Oom." I expected to be delighted by Prince Caspian. I was not.
After skipping Caspian's childhood entirely, the birth of his cousin starts a film that requires significant explanation within the first fifteen seconds. I feel that this inconsiderate omission is disrespectful to the portrayal of who Caspian is. Caspian's wonder and admiration of the Narnians is so much a product of his upbringing that without explanation of his background, he becomes a snobbish, insufferable know-it-all who is rarely impressed. Additionally, the delinquent storytelling robs moviegoers of delightful character that is Dr. Cornelius, who is referred to as merely "the professor" and plays an extremely limited role. There is no mention of Caspian's nurse, the courageously rebellious woman who taught Caspian to crave peace and freedom.
Deliberate disregard for literary accuracy is demonstrated in a scene where Caspian, with the help of an old hag and wolflike beast, uses dark magic to summon the spirit of the White Witch. It is clearly stated in the beginning of Caspian's (real) journey that he strictly opposes the slightest association with persons such as those, but that was merely the way his story was written by C.S. Lewis, an author whose classic literary masterpiece was only loosely followed in the making of this film.
In short, the film makers could have told Caspian's heroic story with a spectacular film but instead resorted to glossing over critical information and details; an ultimate betrayal to the literate minority.

I went to this movie with my 4 year old and 10 year old. Both were captivated for the length of the movie, as was I at 41 years old. It was a powerful movie and a relief as a mother not to have to worry about language. So you CAN make an amazing movie without nudity or bad language or gory violence!

Acting has gone up a notch from the first movie which was great to begin with. Chemistry is terrific between the siblings, and Caspian does a fantastic job merging in line with them. Great new characters. Don't get too caught up in being exactly like the book. It's great entertainment, and well done. Loved it.

Very good movie. My kids and I love this series of books. There were quite a few differences between the book and movie. I don't really know why they had to put the romantic twist in there but it wasn't too bad. My kids were like ,"hey that didn't happen!" Characters were awesome!

Prince Caspian is far, far more watchable than was the very good The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. It's darker, wittier, and handles its themes more ably. It's long, but for the most part makes the most of its length as it presents a story that works on many levels.
It tells C.S. Lewis's story, but it recognizes that it must find and exploit themes in that tale that will be meaningful for 2008, and the filmmakers wisely chose the relationship between magic (or imagination) and faith. The children have difficulty trusting the magical nature of Narnia... indeed, the Narnians themselves must be helped to faith again after a millennium of bondage to prosaic, political, power-hungry Telmarines, who are made very interesting in this film. The movie aims at the older child, and touches lightly on issues of adolescence: the loss of faith in the imagination, the hormonal anger in Peter and the awkward, innocent sexuality of Susan that partly explain why Aslan finds them too old to return to Narnia: they have more mundane things to think about, and it's time to let go of the magic, or hopefully to incorporate it into their lives.
The film drags a bit at the end trying to build up tension around the final battle sequence, but the pacing problems are mild enough. The sub-plots (for instance Peter and Caspian's rivalry) is awkwardly resolved, but it is perhaps true to the spirit of English school-boys, who might make up on the rugby pitch rather than in emotional cinematic scripts.
The child actors are far, far more reliable than they were in the previous movie, and show surprising emotional range: their coaching shows through far less often, but they keep the spirit of comradeship that made them endearing.
A movie well worth watching.

Good story line throughout and it kept moving. I liked the way they created the characters and how they were used. The main character to me was a low profile throughout the movie making everyone act including the talking animals.....cute. Loved that mouse! Can't wait for the DVD next.

My family really enjoyed the movie. They did stray a few times from the book but it was fine. I didn't mind the "romance" between Susan and Caspian. Special effects were great and the battle scences were cool. Costumes were beautiful, of course. All those kids are great and I hope to see them in the future. While my family and I did love this movie and thought it was very well done and would go see it again, I have to say that I, personally, liked the first one better. My teenage daughter thinks Prince Caspian and Peter are hot. And my husband and I about died laughing when Caspian has the sword on his uncle and says "Did you kill my father" in that accent he had. Reminded us of a certain movie: "Hello!"... "You killed my father, prepare to die!". Go see the movie, it is worth the ticket price to see it on the big screen! By the way, my 6 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter sat through the whole thing and my son won't stop talking about the movie.

This movie was like the book in the way that they share the same title and have a the same basic story plot. There was quite a bit of important key information left out and some unnecessary story-line added. Yet again another could-have-been great movie is ruined with a needless love-plot. Subtle as it may be, it was nothing like the book plot. The relationship between Peter and Caspian was also a huge embellishment that the movie could have done without. Again, unlike the book. The book if a very short one, and would not be that difficult to keep the important things in there, and then add the other stuff where needed. If you are going to make a movie of such a popular and classic story, the TELL the story, not embellish it.

If you have read and fallen in love with the books before seeing this film, prepare to be quite irritated as the Old Narnians assault Miraz's Castle, using Edmund's electric torch to signal troops. I about walked out of the theater at this point, experiencing some rather savage flashbacks to when I saw the Two Towers for the first time. I don't have a problem with anything else - Peter scrapping with Caspian - fine. Susan kissing Caspian at the end - fine. All the other deviations from the story in the book seem at least halfway plausible. However, High King Peter squandering half the Old Narnians' lives in an obviously foolhardy attempt to prove his kingly wisdom in a disturbingly Bush-remeniscent preemptive strike, and Caspian in Miraz's bedchamber with Miraz's wife shooting Caspian with a crossbow, I mean come on people. The only reason I give the film 3 stars is that so many scenes and shots were so fantastic. This has to be one of my favorite books of the series, and it was tremendous to see it come to life with such a beautiful, talented cast on the big screen. However, Adamson and his screenwriters totally butchered the experience of all traditional Narnia-lovers who have grown up with the books and have the stories so firmly entrenched in our minds. Learn from Peter Jackson's disastrous attempts to change the story in the Two Towers - don't make radical changes to the core events in the plot! And if you do, at least don't make the principle characters go completely against their nature and do something that forever taints their image in a brutal, dark way. This story is dark enough, without having to introduce major character flaws in Peter that were never there in Lewis' story. Overall, disgusting. I don't know if I will be able to drag myself into the theater to see this one again. Maybe I'll go get popcorn during the castle assault scene!

While much better than the first movie, this one doesn't sit like an original masterpiece. The special effects are well done and convincing, but many of the themes seem too obviously close to main themes in other large productions. The train station at the start might as well have a "Platform 9 3/4" sign, and also many of the scenes had too much of a LOTR feel to them. Otherwise, if you let yourself get into it, you may be able to squeeze a tear or two, have a crush on Prince Caspian/Queen Susan (whatever does it for you), and enjoy a well made movie.

This movie is great -- and much better than the first (which we all love, too). It was pretty faithful to the book written by CSLewis with a few changes (like Susan and Caspian starting to fall in love .... yech) but otherwise it was very well done. The actors ... especially the supporting folks ... were excellent and are in fact amazing actors. We'll be going again and my 9 yos is already saving his money for when it comes out on DVD.

Took my family opening night. Everyone liked it (parents/16 yr old/7 yr old). A few moments a little much for the 7 year old. Would not reccomend for anyone younger than 7. Unbelieveable images & they told the story very well.

Was a little slow in the begining and a few of the special effects were "common" not what I was hoping for. Definately a movie to watch, but it would be OK to wait watch it on DVD.

Prince Caspian was certainly not as good as the first. The plot lines were not anywhere near as developed...just lots of battles scenes...even though they weren't bloody it was still too much...it seemed like most of the dialogue was just going through the motion and the characters weren't developed. Didn't walk away with the same sentiment of being swept away into the world of Narnia and believing that good overcomes evil like with the first movie.

We loved this movie!!!!Much more action than the first, suspenseful and just all around amazing. The Narnia kings and Queens are daring and brave and I think it was better than the first!!!!!!
