My personal opinion of the movie is that the first hour was touch and go. A lot of boring conversations and filler material. The last hour of the movie was FANTASTIC. The battle scenes were incredible. It was a good family movie and the costumes and Narnians were pretty incredible. It was a bit long and I felt that a lot could have been cut from the first hour to make the move "flow" better. It is visually stunning to watch but some of the material during the first hour was really lackluster and a bit boring to get through.

To get it out of the way, yes, all the things you've heard about the film are true. It is darker in tone, like Lord of the Rings, and has lost the ooh-ahh of the first film. It does have some glaring deviations from the book and it diminishes the theme somewhat for the Lewis faithful. However, it has enough going for it to still go see it. None of the things I mentioned mar the film enough to stay away. It, like its characters, are growing up. The inner conflict in Peter mirrors the political conflict with evil King Miraz. Both feel justified at their actions. Speaking of action, it is more adult as well, though not on the level of, say, most video games. There are actually some consequences played out in the first grand battle, a night-time attack on the bad guy castle. Stirring and heart-breaking. Those who don't care so much for themes and messages will enjoy the special effects and the memories it evokes of Lord of the Rings. The actors do the best they can, with poor Caspian looking good but not much more. Not the actor's fault, though. The reason I gave it a four and not a five is simply that the original theme of a young man coming to faith in something beyond himself was squandered with Peter's story. After all, the title is "Prince Caspian", not "Pete and the Prince". While their stories intertwined well enough, it muddied the overall effect. Many opportunities from the book were dismissed. As well, Trumpkin the dwarf and Reepicheep were used mostly for comic relief, and their role in the original story was much deeper than that. The biggest change, the appearance of the White Witch, was handled well enough and was probably done for the fans who saw the first film but had not read the books. Aslan's non-prescence was not handled as effectively. Belief must come before revelation, but that message was missed. In all, I liked, but did not love the film. I'll probably get the DVD when it comes out and it will grow on me. The way this film was handled leads me to put more hope in the next one, Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Stay tuned.

I actually saw this one before I saw the first one, but I knew the storyline so I understood it. I think that this one was actually a better movie than the first mainly because of less computer animation but also because the actors were older and played their parts a little better. I would definitely go see this one again though, it was hilarious and intriguing.

While technically "The Horse and His Boy" would have been the next book after The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, I can understand why they filmed this one first for the sake of using the same young children. If they had done it vice versa, the children would have aged to the point where they might not look the part as well.
This movie was epic. After the first movie, I had high expectations when entering the theater to see this film. It did not disappoint. They took this to next level. I highly recommend watching this, but only if you have already seen the first or read the books.

I went to the movie opening night after reading the book just two weeks ago. I also saw the first movie. I really enjoyed the movie version. Even though it had been adapted for the screen it didnt' fall too far from the book. I enjoyed the plot and quality of the movies version of the story. Having read all of the Chronicles of Narnia over 20 times, I cannot hold any screenwriter to the high call of sticking to the book. This movie works brilliantly independent from C.S. Lewis' original work in that it takes the viewer to Prince Caspian at the point where he has learned his Narnian history and is ready to take on his role. The discerning viewer will become swept away quickly by his determination to usurp the usurper. Some comic relief woven into the original work by C.S. Lewis with Giant Wimbleweather, and a few more utterings of "Giants and junipers" by Trumpkin the Dwarf would have suited me, but are not necessary to the plot. The casting is great, the kids are growing into their roles with a special kudos to Edmund. I can't wait for "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" ! Just don't go to this movie expecting C.S. Lewis. Expect to see a fine, well-written and directed action adventure movie to begin your summer viewing. Go see it before you see something with less intellectual stimulation.

It was an enjoyable movie, but it takes a while for the plot to move at a good clip. The cinematography is top notch and the Narnia characters make it an enjoyable watch.
It is much different than the first movie in tone. I wish there would have been more about what happened to Narnia between the time that the kings and queens were there. The last 45 minutes of the movie is non-stop and brought the movie up to the rating that I gave it

We loved Price Caspian! My girls are 11 and 13, plenty old enough to not be frightened by all the characters and intense action of the Narnia movies. We enjoy other Disney movies, but sometimes the cartoons are too childish for my girls. This movie was outstanding. It was as good as the first one. The producers did a great job of bringing CS Lewis's book to life. There were so many great underlying biblical messages in this book that is so profound and deep. I would definatly recommend this movie!

This movie like the last was captive, witty and true to the original book series. The good and evil theme played well as always and the likeness of Aslan to God was again very well thoughtout and true to scripture. I liked that they showed that he was there watching them but did not get them out of trouble until they called on him and he was absolutely needed. I saw this movie on opening day, and was eager to arrive at the 10am showing. I was not disappointed. This movie is action packed, and held some level of mystery throughout.
The references to the trees, the beavers, Mr. Thomas, and the White Witch, allowed viewers who were familiar with the original saga to remember, yet keep their focus on the current saga and things that were unveiling as the new story was revealed.
It was also very interesting to see the time portal open in a rather "Harry Potterish" manner this time, rather than through the familiar wardrobe passage, allowing the royal four to enter the realm of Narnia. I loved the fact that all the original characters were kept for the new film, and that they played the roles at their current age, rather than at the grown-up age they were when they were last in Narnia.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film and eagerly await the release of the DVD so that I may add it to my collection along with the original film. It is a definite "must see". -Iwestech

While the plot was clearly present, and the Pevensie children were in fine form through out, the movie wasn't all it could have been. Hollywood, as usually, screwed up something that could have been fun and different by trying to make it main stream. Not only is Caspian far too old(which I knew going in) but there's unnecessary attempts at romantic subplots and, frankly, the conclusion of the final battle and the ending of the movie itself was painfully cliched. All in all, I must prefer the old BBC tv movie of "Caspian". If you're the kind of person who throws shoes at movie screens then bring along an extra pair, but you should still go see it.

We took our two boys to see this movie last night. It was very well done with lots of action. Good story, characters and acting, but a fair amount of PG violence. The entire last hour is a giant battle scene!

Loved this movie very much.... i did feel like i might have missed a little bit of the story by not reading the book, but the fight scenes are amazing. The acting by the kids really has improved and i really connected with characters. Really should go see this movie if you love the wonderful fantasy world.

I thoughtt this movie was great and the special affects were even better than the first movie. Only complaint as it was a little bit long, but still enjoyed it very much and recommend seeing it in the theater.

Great movie adaptation of the book. As usual different yet still true to the basic feel of the book. Great acting and special effects. Great battle scenes. The "DLF" was hilarious!
