I thought they did a great job for a sequal. It wasn;t a 100% true to the book but close enough to keep true to the story line. The setting was beautiful and the orginal cast was again awesome. I thought the the actor they cast as Prince Caspian did an OK job I could have had him a little more aggressive at times but I will let him pass on this one and see how he does on the next one.

This movie was too long! They draw young children to the theater and what you get is somewhat disappointing. The storyline was interesting but they took too long to have it all unfold. The movie was not light hearted. It was intense and the fighting scenes seemed redundant throughout the movie. If this had been the first movie I don't think the audience would have developed any attachment to any of these characters. The first movie did an excellent job of bringing the audience member into the movie. This movie was easily forgotten.

Andrew Adamson has done an incredible job bringing CS Lewis' books to life. Though the movie is rather long, you never realize it because of the gripping way the story is told, and the sheer amount of action.
It has been said that the movie focused too much on the battles and not enough on the story. Though this is true to a degree, it must be pointed out that the battles are in fact part of the story, and must be communicated visually. Also, there was enough depth to the plot and attention to characters, that the action was justified and did not over stay its welcome. The battles are visually stunning, but don't go expecting Lord of the Rings. This is an entirely different story, and must be treated as such.
Speaking of story, this movie does not quite follow the book the same way the LWW movie did, but only one alteration deserved to be scoffed at. The only irritating alteration was the romance between Susan and Caspian, but it never really goes anywhere, and stops just short of ridiculous. There is an additional battle in which Narnia attempts to storm Miraz's castle. Though this is not in the book, it is still done in the spirit of Lewis' point. "The Children were not trusting in Aslan."
Whether you be a Christian, a non-Christian, a family looking for a good outing, or just a fan of the books, this is a must-see. Ebert and Roeper will be the only ones not enjoying this movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Prince Caspian was a fairly enchanting adaptation of this C.S. Lewis storyline, but it did fall short of the wonder of discovering the world of Narnia for the first time. The fight sequences were well done and quite captivating, but seemed to drag on a little bit in comparison to the clipped and often cryptic character interactions that were really more central to the plot. Overall, the film was quite fun and I think that anyone who loved Narnia, or enjoys fantasy tales in general, will truly enjoy viewing it.

This movie was great, and as the title suggests, it might even be better than the first. Little Lucy is growing up and Peter is turning out to be quite the looker. This round of Narnia is a little darker than the first, but still okay for maybe the 10 and up crowd. Some of the younger kids might be a little scared at a couple of points in the movie. I don't go to the movies too often because it's become such a rip-off, but this one was worth the $10.

'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' was far better than I expected, given the usual track record of most sequels. But then again, we are talking about Walden Media, which does go the extra mile to bring the very best of family entertainment to America.
Having not read any of the C.S. Lewis books, I will certainly make it a point to do so now. 'Prince Caspian' surpasses the visual beauty of 2005's 'Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,' especially in the battle sequence towards the end of the film. The river sequence alone would make Cecil B. DeMille turn green with envy.
Overall, an outstanding flim. Higly recommended for all ages.

I was excited for this movie to come out.
I thought the first one was pretty good.
I was disappointed. The movie itself was over two hours, which I don't mind. But in this case, this movie could have been summed up big time. Some scenes (and I won't say which for those who have not seen it yet) were dragged out.

Well it was a good movie over all. Adamson did better at establishing a closer feel with the characters with Aslan. As a die hard book fan, I still think the movie went to far away from the book. Most people that loved CS Lewis didn't see his style and feel in the movies. Too many borrowed tricks and scenes from LORings. A bit back and forth with the plot. The graphics were much better. The landscapes and skies.
Over all I liked it and will buy the dvd but hope that in the future ....like the batman movies...someone will re do narnia and leave in all the allegories and the feel of cs lewis a little more....with just minor things added and not so much changed.... Peace out

Overall, this movie was pretty much the same as the first in the series. It pulled a Pirates of the Caribbean by creating the formula in the first movie, then improving it in the second, with just as many rum jokes that get old really fast. The action was much improved, as the makers clearly knew exactly what PG could and couldn't do, all the while clearly pushing MPAA's buttons.
The acting was improved, especially in the four main children, however this seems to be due to better writing than improved performances. The characters have flaws and growth, other than the simple learn your lesson feel of the first film.
The fact that it's advertised as a childrens movie is a bit weird, as, while there's no blood and guts and whatnot, there are some seriously dark elements to the story that must be kept in regard, however it is played in the sense that 'your kids are young, but they can handle this. its teaching a lesson.' its an excuse, but the older audiences will be thankful.
it's worth seeing in theatres, with good cgi elements and cool action. eddie izzard as reepicheep is a beast.

I thought the movie was fantastic! Very entertaining and gut wrenching at the same time....I love these sort of fantasy films because when done right, they totally make you feel as if a magical world does exist....I laughed, I cried and even screamed...it was great! Can't wait for the next installment and if there was anything I had to gripe about, it would be that there needs to be more of Aslin...I know it is based on a book so however much time he is in the book is what one has to work with, but he makes it so much more interesting and fun...I will say I am not sure if it is suitable for young children but definitely fun for the older kids, maybe -8 and up...and please leave your babies at home.....overall a great followup to the first film...

I am a huge fan of the Chronicles of Narnia series. I went to the movies to be a part of opening weekend in order to support the great leaps and bounds technology has made to assist the art of storytelling. This release was definitely on my short-list of summer blockbusters simply because I enjoyed the first installment so much. Having read the books I commended the director for having toned down the christian over-tones without losing the spirit of the work. In Prince Caspian, however, the religious theme is not only dialed up, it is being rammed down our throats. Unfortunately, the darker and more adult oriented tale doesn't have enough action sequences weaved between the incredibly slow and poorly directed middle to justify any commitment aside from the "almighty" DVD purchase/rental. Please don't get me wrong, for I am a lover of all tales involving princes, evil kings and magic...but when the director chooses to turn a river into the image of G-d and then have Him literally eat all the bad guys...you kind of have to ask whether this story was brought to life as an all inclusive tale or what.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

LOVED IT! All our favorite characters are back, from the Kings and Queens, to Aslan, even the White Witch herself. And newcomer, Ben Barnes, is absolutely charming as Prince Caspian. The dialogue is a bit more mature and witty than the first movie, as is the plotline. More war and battle scenes, but really good, overall. Georgie Henley (Lucy) is absolutely gorgeous and all the kids have begun to grow into their own quite nicely. We meet new characters that capture our hearts just as Mr. Tumnus and the Beavers did in the first film. Disney has done a fabulous job of bringing C.S. Lewis' timeless characters to life.

Prince Caspian is full of sumptuous sights and sinuous sounds. it is Disney returning to the grace it lost somewhere in the mid-late 90s. With the fall of the animated musical and the rise of Pixar's eye-teasingly cool animation.
When the first Narnia came out I, like many other lovers of fantasy fiction, felt like Disney was merely trying to get a piece of the LOTR/Potter pie. So many movies based on successful fantasy novels have been the vogue since the century's turn. But Narnia had something the other rip-offs did not possess. the Disney sensibility for epic adventure. Epic adventure. and the epic-ness, while slightly less pronounce in the sequel, is still what sets it apart from the rest of lot. Watching Prince Caspian one is granted the feeling of going on a long march to a great battle. finding love and coping with loss along the way. its the stuff OF epics. and it is sure to keep an adults mind thoroughly amused (though an adult with a child may find themselves having to explain somethings throughout. not a bad thing.) and keep younger children riveted.
what the movie lack in wonder and amazing-ness, it makes up for in frequent action sequences. the main complaint i hear is that the action isn't gory enough. well... what can i say? its disney! but its still action. i don't need to see every foot soldier done away with in gritty, bloody reality. i am quite entertained with the bloodless clashing. blades stay miraculously clean. dying soldiers are simply dead inert bodies or jumbled carnage-implicating shadow-bulks. the true drama is not in the blood spilled... not in the carnal-violence that a more graphic film might have, but in the triumph of the spirit when a foe is beaten back. and the wide angle shots are simply, as our president would say, awesome. it is a movie to be enjoyed. and it was thoroughly enjoyed by yours truly. the only minute detraction would have to be the too often, too expected comedic one-liners. some where positively well-done. others seemed totally forced. fortunately, they ARE one-liners and the distaste the bad ones bring dissipates quickly. and the good feelingness is unbroken. my one regret: we should have gotten a bigger popcorn. it was done too soon. far too soon.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

THis rendition of Prince Caspian is good but as in the first the director did not stick to the books close enough. I would go see it again and buy it but it would be nice if the movie would have followed the books more and thus provide the viewer with more information about what is going on. Much of the editing seems to be choppy like the first one and there are awkaward pauses in the movie that do make you feel like you are watching a kiddie movie.
The movie also alludes to a love interest amongst the characters that seems to be a weak attempt at keeping the audiences attention assuming that the movie would have lost the viewers attention by then.
The acting was good. The graphic were good. Maybe the extended edition will have all the parts that were not included in the movie but are in the book.

Overall it is an entertaining movie for the whole family. I didn't quite like the storyline where Prince Caspian didn't play much of a role. I suppose I haven't read this book to know the actual storyline according to Lewis. I just didn't like the final scenes with trees and water coming alive to find the enemy. I was expecting Aslan bringing re-enforcement in the forms of other Narnians rather than magical trees and water.
There was a scene where Peter had a wound/cut on his left eyebrow during the fight to prevent the White Witch from coming back. Then the following scenes after the fight, the cut on his eyebrow was going. Hmmm. In general, I like this movie only for the visual images such as its scenery and magical characters. I appreciate the humor that is embedded as well.

Another awesome movie of the Chronicles of Narnia. Parents with small children - read the book to your kid first and yes, there are strange looking (some may think scary) creatures and fighting. There is a war. These are not just kids books. The movie was very close to the book. And it is worth seeing!!! I enjoyed every minute of it and will probably see it again before it comes out on DVD...

Beautifully shot. This film is a visual feast, faithful to the story and intent of Mr. Lewis. I found myself drawn in and carried away to Narnia. I took my family with a 10 yr old and a 4yr old. The 4 yr old typically takes about six potty breaks during a film. She was so taken in that we had one break early and then one near the end when she was fighting her bladder to say. For this child, that really says something!
Themes of good and evil, clear messages of right and wrong, trust and humility, personal desire verses sacrifice for the greater good are all great reason why this high adventure should top your list of summer family films.
