People have rejected this movie because they don't like the start but it is a very good action movie. Arnold is in good form as a world-weary sheriff whose retirement is ruined by a band of nasty drug dealers. With a motley crew of deputies, they al reach down into the well of the reasons they all became cops and the result is a slam bang movie.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

This a straight forward action/western. The story was good, the pace was dynamic, the jokes were funny, the action was plenty, the actors did their jobs very well. This is a good one, Arnold. I guess all that unresolved anger from being the Governor of California found an outlet.

This a mindlees fun type of movie,not complcated and lots of action.There are a few scenes that even made me tense as seeling two deputys out gunned.Dont go to this movie looking for great acting or academy award type of movie,just a fun Arnold type of movie.

I appreciate mindless, genre-embracing, wacky, over-the-top violent movies as much as the next guy, but they still have to meet a few requirements, namely that they are first and foremost not boring. “The Last Stand” falls flat on its face in that department. A promising premise involving a bad guy speeding towards the Mexican border and the small town and its sheriff (Arnold Schwarzenegger) that stand in his way seemed destined for senseless greatness. But bad acting (acting is, in fact, still a requirement in these films) and a plot that moves slower than a small town on a Sunday morning result in a terrible film whose title aptly describes the state of the theatre after the film’s showing, where countless numbers of people remain unintentionally rooted to their seats, long after the credits have ended. They’re asleep.

If you've seen all of the Schwarzenegger films of his youth, you know exactly what you are in for. Lots of action, simple plot lines with good guys against really bad guys, and the sense of humor only Arnie can deliver with a straight face. Its actually sort of funny even if its predictable and totally politically incorrect in these times. Arnie is showing his age, but like any force of nature you still know you wouldn't want to tangle with him even in a wheel chair. The supporting cast is good with both Johnny Knoxville and Luis Guzman along for laughs. Forest Whitaker plays a small role as the FBI agent in charge, but frankly his part hardly matters. When did the story line matter in a film like this? Let me tell you, the audience applauded numerous times as Arnie would go into his routine. He may look his age, but he is still Arnie. Director Jee-woon Kim is quite good with the action scenes and there are plenty!
The Last Stand is a mindless fun action flick that marks Arnie's return to the role of leading man. And yes, as he once promised...he's back!

The movie is fun, with plenty of chase scenes, and gun action. The good guys are likable and have heart and the bad guys are bad enough to keep your interest. If you are Christian the movie may be a little off putting because every character that has dialogue is screaming Jesus or Jesus Christ to express whatever emotion they are feeling at the time. Wait til this one comes out on HBO.
