This is a favorite book of both myself and my boys - ages 9 and 4. I took them to see this movie. I wasn't sure what to expect since from the previews I was afraid it might scare my 4 year old. It didn't. In fact, he sat through it all (he sometimes does not) & laughed quite a bit. After the movie was over I figured I liked it more than the kids did, but both of my kids kept talking about how much they liked it. When we got home my 4-year old had to take a nap & he insisted we read the book. He loved pointing out the characters in the book & giving them their names from the movie & talking about what they were like. Of course all kids are different & like I said this didn't SEEM like my kids would like it so much - but they loved it!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I was excited to take my boys to see this. They have always loved the book. We only stayed 15 minutes. During that time we saw the main character get sworn at by his mom and then bite her, followed by him running through streets of his neighborhood, ending up with one of the wild things blowing things up. At that point my youngest turned to me and said, "Daddy let's go, this is too violent." Might be good for adults but not for kids.

I LOVED this movie, that being said i don't think its a movie made for children. But as a college student who went with a group of college students i thought it was amazing. Our row was laughing the whole time. But I guess it takes a certain type of person to enjoy the movie, and you cant spend the whole time trying to figure it out. But if you just accept the movie as it is, weirdness, abstractness, and all I think the movie is totally worth it.

One of the worst movies I have seen - very disappointing. Our 9-yr old son had been asking for weeks to see this movie. This movie is not appropriate for young children unless you don't mind them seeing volence and hearing cuss words. Also, this movie was a lot darker than I remember the book to be. I did enjoy the set and costume design - well done. Think twice before you see this movie - boring

I was naively thinking that this movie would automatically hold the same appeal for me as an adult that the book did for me as a kid. Unfortunately I couldn't even remember how the book went, just that I liked it. What met me at the theater was a movie that was much darker, much murkier and much more violent that I had expected. Take the time to prepare yourself for what you're getting into and you'll probably get a lot more out of it. One major highlight was seeing the characters come to life, but that alone isn't enough to warrant a 5 star rating.
