My 5-year old daughter was terrified at some scenes. I tried to leave the theater, but didn't want to make too much of a scene so I simply sat there holding her head into me and consoling her most of the movie. I learned my lesson about previewing movies before I take my children. Not only was the movie disappointing (scary, dark, inappropriate language/behavior), but the commercials/previews prior to the movie were totally inappropriate for a "G" audience. Sad, sad, sad. I will not be taking my kids to movies again for a long long time. Makes me want to watch Little Bear for an entire day to remind me that there are some sweet, innocent kids' characters out there.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW - DON'T READ IT. I knew that this was the last in the series and had high hopes that Pixar wouldn't opt for the cheap laughs or some stupid plot like so many other movies do by the 3rd movie in a trilogy (see Shrek, Madagascar [both movies were awful without even getting to the 3rd], Open Season, etc.). Pixar delivered. I appreciated Andy's difficulty with getting rid of the toys, we knew Andy would eventually be too old to keep them and now we get to see how he handles it. I thought Lotso was a great villain - his demise was a bit similar to the logic/plot devices of Stinky Pete's (see TS2), but still satisfying and humorous. I do have to say that I was unable to enjoy the resolution of the Sunnyside Day Care and where the toys (Woody, Buzz, et. al) eventually ended up, due to the absolute and sheer terror of the incinerator scene. It lasted too long and was too much to bear. I'm grateful my wife was able to attend to our 6 year old (an absolute Buzz L. fanatic) as he cried and quietly squealed and squirmed in his seat during this scene, because I was torn in two with the sheer resignation that all the toys had as they reached out and held each others' hands as they accepted their demise. No heroic struggle, just the inevitable death of these toys that have become all too human in the past 15 years due to deft and ultra creative storytelling. I found myself still emotionally pummeled after their rescue and again, unable to fully enjoy and receive what I can logically see was supposed to be a satisfying resolution and ending to a brilliant story (all 3 movies). Everything about the incinerator scene was logical with the storyline. Part of what makes it so intense is the build up to it, where there are about 3 sequences of narrow escape from certain toy annhilation and betrayal from Lotso (where one was led to believe that he would've shifted due to being saved by Woody, but Lotso escaped when he could, leaving the others to their fates) the huggable bear and then the slow "march" to their doom after being unable to extricate themselves from the shredded garbage that was slowling sliding into this massive boiling incinerator - similar to the volcano in Mordor and the smelting pool in Terminator 2: Judgement Day - both of these movies aren't kids movies, but in my opinion this incinerator scene should've made the movie a PG, not a G. Honestly, I won't shun this movie, but I won't recommend it to friends either.

For the most part, this movie was exceptional, entertaining, funny and witty. BUT (and yes, this is a very big but) the landfill, incinerator secene was extremely intense for kids. My kids are 4 & 6 and honestly, they watch a good amount of stuff from PBS to Scooby-Doo and Pokemon but this particular scene (which is farily long) was in no uncertain terms a childs horror film. As I watched it, I was very aware of how terrifying, menecing and horrifying the storyline was. The antagonist was needed but the adult way in which it was written veiled strongly towards terror and fear. It was harsh, no matter how you dress it up, cover it up or fill it with toys. Overtly my kids seemed okay with it all but I'm not okay that they were exposed to this form of horror at this age. I'm not a prude or a member of organized conservative religion but, I am protective towards inappropriate exposures. each child has a different level of maturity and experience and I take the blame for not seeing this coming but, honestly, this should absolutely NOT be rated G. Even if you're okay with the scene in question, do you still think it should be a G rating? Because of this particular storyline, I had to give the film 3 stars if only for the reason of getting peoples attention. Protagonist, antagonist and the cycle of life, I get it, I'm okay with it but, STOP with the scare tactics already, my God life is rough enough already, stop messing with our childrens heads.

Loved this movie! I can't believe Andy is all grown up since I was about the same age when the 1st one came out. It was amazing to see the reactions on kid's faces when they first see Woody, Buzz and the gang. Nice to meet the new toys, and sad to see that some are no longer with us. If you liked Toy Stories 1 & 2, then this is a MUST see. If you somehow have not seen the previous Toy Story movies, no worries. The story line here is not dependent on the previous two but it helps.
Caution. While I have seen some reviews play down 1 particular scene too intense for tiny tots, in my opinion, scenes of eminent death of a child's toy will affect kids. Share with your kids and talk to them about it. It shouldn't lead to nightmares but a little comfort goes a long way.
Other than the 1 scene, the movie is truly a great one to see. Our audience applauded twice DURING the movie, not even at the end. It's that good.

A handful of people are saying that TS3 was 'too dark' or 'too scary', corrupt, whatever. But Toy Story 3 is mostly geared towards the Andy's of the world -- We've all grown up now, with our toys in the attic, and we're wondering what do we do now? In the story, Andy passes on the legacy of his toys, and in a sense, his own legacy, a piece to the story of his own childhood. So even though he is going to college, joining the adult world, that piece of him, the child in him, will never die. It's a fantastic story! A real experience. If you liked the first toy story, you are not too old now to see the third. It's waiting just for you! :) Let's keep it at number one!

My husband and I loved the third (and final?) of the Toy Story series. Our son (2.5 yrs old) had a blast! He's basically memorized Toy Story 1 and 2 - so we knew we'd be seeing this one on opening weekend. We actually took him to see it twice - since he begged to see it again after a successful first showing. The second show, however, we had to leave early, as he got scared by one of the scenes (not sure why, since it didn't upset him the first time around). Still, a great great movie and we will definitely be adding it to our DVD collection!! :)

Excellent 3rd outing for the Toy Story franchise...we saw it on opening day and all three of my boys (9, 6, and 2) give it two thumbs up. Heartwarming story, plenty of laughs for all ages, and a great way to wrap up the storyline.

Many times when there are series' with movies, they kind of fizzell out as each movie is shown, but this is one of the few that keeps the laughs coming and you are interested during the whole movie, etc etc. Without telling the story, which we don't do, just go and see it, you definitely won't be disppointed!! Enjoy

The Toy Story Movies are my favorites, and Toy Story 3 was not a disappointment. It was however, a more emotional movie than the other two. Still, lots of great laughs.

As a huge fan of both previous Toy Story movies, I was so hoping for another great chapter to this wonderful story. I was not disappointed. True Toy Story fans will love the references to prior movies and characters. My kids loved the movie, and I did too. I will definitely be adding this to our home movie collection when it's released. Two thumbs up!

I really enjoyed this movie because it kept my 3 year old capivated the entire time. The moral of the story is portrayed very well. I enjoyed the unexpected ending. It is very rewarding to see good messages played on the big screen.

I absolutely loved the first and second movie so I couldn't wait to see this movie. I was very pleased with the movie. It really brought back some really great memories(I was in my teens for the first two) and made me a bit nostalgic. I really loved the heart warming plot ,it was smart sweet and very funny. The best part for me with out giving out too much is a few scenes with Buzz' alter ego. I also can't deny the fact that I was so touched with the film that I dropped a few tears. Overall I would recommend this movie for the whole family!
