This was our first family movie together - our kids are 2.5 and 5.
We ended up having to leave the movie early as the 5 year old really did not like all the violence.
I had hoped for a fun entertaining movie but ended up feeling like I was sitting in a sinister violent movie that was for kids because of the cartoon character but otherwise not at all appropriate for a G overall rating.
Here we are trying to teach our older son that hitting and pushing is not ok and the movie starts with violence right from the get go.

I took my four children to see Toy Story 3 and I laughed and cried. When the toys started holding hands when they got closer to the fire the tears started filling my eyes, my 6 year old daughter asked me what was wrong and I said nothing and looked away. At the end when Andy was showing the little girl how to play with his toys and then he had to leave the tears started to flow more... I agree that a box of tissues is needed...

This one left all of the parents on the floor in a heap of tears. Watching your child grow up and leave their childhood behind is painful but ultimately expected. As parents, we all just "one more day" of the way it use to be. It never comes except in hidden glimpses.
My son is leaving for college in 12 days. As I watched Toy Story 3, with last three children that are still at home (ages 7,8 & 16), I found myself crying all over again about my son's pending departure. I have been through it all before with two older daughters that have already graduated from college, but each one is tough and a heartbreak. Toy Story 3 brings it all back to life. Childhood, moving on, playing and loyalty. There is something for everyone in this beautifully produced movie. Toy Story 3 saved the best for last!

The attention to detail in the facial expressions and body language was hilarious and wonderful. I would see this again just to watch Woody lope across the room. The list of people who worked on this movie shows how much work goes into making an animated film of this caliber. I live near Pixar studios and have been lucky enough to tour the facilities. Lucky are those who have the skills required to work there!

FORGET any "sequel prejudices"...DON'T MISS Toy Story 3! Fantastic movie! Great for ALL ages! Took my 4 kids: 11, 6, 4 & 2. All loved every minute. (My two year old was even glued, which means I got to see the whole movie!) Funny, touching and plenty of "toy-sized" action! We ALL laughed and while I was trying to “discreetly” hide my “emotional mommy tears”, I noticed my 4 year old daughter with tears in her eyes too. (It was a bonding moment for sure!) We will be buying this one when it comes out! See it!

We wondered if another trilogy was a good idea. We are fans of the first and second movie, but thought once a kid is grown, how does one make a movie about his toys? Well, they did a great job. There were familiar toys from long ago and there were a lot of great lines. We were all on the edge of our seat when the toys were in the melting pit. There were some teary eyes at the end, too. We hope they leave the story end as it did.

I'm not sure, if it was the fact that i saw this movie late, but I was disappointed. Everyone told me they loved it, and I didn't at all. I kept trying to find something in it that I liked abut it! (because I am a toy story fan!) I ended up leaving early because we were all tired and not fans of the movie. Came off as depressing to me.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The movie was great! Who knew a cartoon could make you cry. I use the movie to tell my children why they should take care of thier toys. My whole family enjoyed watching the movie.

It is NOT, NOT, NOT a happy, fun movie. It is dark, cynical and does not project a perspective that I associate with toys, childhood or exuberant pre-schoolers. It spewed negativity, including repetitive, reckless name-calling...not my idea of reminiscing of fun childhood memories. I much prefer rolling in the aisles gasping for air from uncontrollable laughter (i.e. Despicable Me)...TS3, chuckled once...when Ken hit on Barbie...that was it...bleh.
