Lots of character expressed in the movie; a charismatic character of the American people, and their ability to remain true to their nation. There were funny moments, scary ones and depressing ones, but I loved the ending of it. Great movie.

I went to see this movie last night and it blew me away. I expected it to be a ridiculous testosterone filled movie but it really made you proud to be an American. It also made you appreciate everything we have in this country.

The story within Olympus never dragged. And the scary part was that all the while we were thinking that it seemed all too real. Could something like this actually happen. We tried to pick it apart afterward, but didn't know enough about the military and politics to determine if it could ever really happen. Certainly someone must have thought about it, as they wrote the script....

Interesting subject to do a movie about- not sure how much of the facts are true, but sure they are close. Hope it doesn't give our enemies any ideas. In total, there were about 10 minutes in the entire movie that I wasn't on the edge of my seat. The special effects were amazing! Of course, it goes without saying that ANY movie Morgan Freeman is a part of is going to be well acted. Look past the storyline and just go for the action. You won't be disappointed. Gerard lays down some AWESOME one-liners. This movie was "Die Hard" on steroids! Enjoy!

As one would expect, a lot of violence. There is a ~12 minute stretch with nothing but death and killing. A good movie, but still felt there was something lacking from making it great. There could've been more done with the son angle as it never really posed a threat or caused you concern (you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it). And at the end of the movie the President does somehting that he spent the whole movie saying he wouldn't do. So there's parts of it that gets you a little po'ed.

This movie was great. Everything about it is something to learn about terrorism. It was an incredible set-up and the actors and actresses were marvelous. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family. It is also something to learn as well about suffering and destruction.

Nowadays...all the best parts of a movie are shown in the previews. Olympus actually has great scenes and some great one liners that will have you laugh. Well written story of a terrorist attack on the White House. Gerard Butler does a great job and when the movie starts, strap yourself in the seat and hold on for action and suspense that will have you sitting on the edge of your seats. Great movie! A must see!!

"Olympus Has Fallen" is the first of two movies released this year about the White House being taken over by terrorists. The second being "White House Down" which comes out June 28th. Here we have Gerard Butler as the secret service agent tasked with saving the entire country. Aaron Eckhart plays the obligatory kidnapped president and Morgan Freeman as the Speaker of the House who wisely decided not to be kidnapped. Eckhart and Freeman do the best with what they're given, which isn't much. Eckhart yells a lot and is pretty good at thrashing about. Freeman seems to be wondering why he's even in this movie. You also have great talent like Angela Bassett as somebody who I forget what her title actually was, though she did get to sit at the big table and yell into the speaker phone with all the big wigs. Butler is really the only reason to see this movie. He's freaking unstoppable as the invincible Secret Service agent who works across the street and decides he might as well save the day and kill just about every single terrorist that the Capitol Police, SWAT, United States Military, and his fellow Secret Service agents couldn't shoot. Some movies can actually have you a little frightened at how real a situation is presented and can get you wondering if this could really happen to us. This is not one of those movies. The takeover is so ridiculously planned that you wonder if the US troops weren't in on it, as that's the only way this would happen. You have to really suspend your doubts and common sense to really get into it. Everybody does things that make no sense at all. There's a scene where the White House is being defended by a comic book superweapon they brought with them and it's destroyed during a failed attack, but once the first assault is over and the superweapon is gone they just decide not to try again. You'd think that now would be the time to attack but nope. Lots of things are just dropped like that. Oh well, I will say it was waaaaaay better than this years actual "Die Hard" movie. Yes, there are scenes actually ripped from the original "Die Hard" but I saw it more of an homage to the father of action movies. Butler's Mike Banning may be no John McClane, but he'll do in a pinch. Antoine Fuqua directed this and I think it's his best work since "Training Day". Some of the special effects and wire-work are a little unbelievable but it's serviceable. There are a lot of physics issues that would drive some people absolutely nuts. I don't think anybody involved in this movie knows how a helicopter actually works. They're not freaking sci-fi hovercraft! Overall, the movie was better than I expected and enjoyable if you just toss out your brain, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the explosions. Hell, I'd probably watch this movie again as it's got some great action beats and it's worth it just to see Butler back at being a badass instead of in romantic comedies with Jennifer Aniston or Catherine Zeta-Jones. Well done Mike Banning, you've made your country proud.

This movie brings terror to the heart of our government, and it shows how easily it can come.
The action is almost non-stop, and the acting is excellent. Both the circumstances and the actors' actions and reactions are both believable and inspiring. Gerard Butler shines in this movie, even more dramatic than his role in "300." Morgan Freeman, as always, is brilliant.
As an Active-Duty Soldier (former Aviation), I have only one technical issue. That is when the insertion operation is initiated, once the MH-60s are taken under fire, they would withdraw, and AH-64 Apaches would be brought in to provide longer ranged missile application. Also, in several movies of this genre, the Army generals are always portrayed as war-mongering maniacs, oblivious to tactical and strategic cues. Other than those small gripes, everything was very believable.
This movie makes "Air Force One" look like a high-school drama production. And I like "Air Force One" a lot!
Go see this movie! If you don't see it on the "big screen" you are truly missing out.

An OUTSTANDING movie, the story is believable and all too real. I feel confident that our Government has considered these ideas and developed countermeasures. I was clapping in several parts when Butler's character took out the terrorist. It was clear to see the US Secret Service and others doing their job to protect the President and the Nations continued existence. The movie used events and real news methods to convey the plausibility of the scenario.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, special effects, accuracy of procedures and sceenes

Went opening night late and hoped it would keep me awake. I was not disappointed. The story keeps you on your seat and the action sequences will make you jump.
It was great to hear the mutual gasps from the theater during the sequences!
