I saw it yesterday at the 2:15 matinee.... Went in not knowing what to expect with the new director... Let me say this.. I'm a huge Iron Man series fan... a huge Robert Downey Jr fan, but I'm also skeptical of any series that makes it to a third installment. .. especially when they change directors.. Jon Favreau directed the first 2 and you just knew he was the right man for the task.. the new guy... not so much..
for instance.. the first Spiderman (with Toby McGuire) was good.. the second installment a near masterpiece.. the 3rd one was total crap... The first Batman (with Christian Bale) was good.. the second installment a near masterpiece.. the 3rd one was total crap.. The first Iron Man very good.. the second one pretty good.. the third.. this one... about as substantial as cotton candy...
The new film, IMHO is all over the place, mostly unrealistic (even for a super hero movie), and too long and I blame the director.. Like the 3rd Spiderman.. he seemed to want to put so much crap into it to outdo the last installment that it was an exercise in over-indulgence.. I would be more specific but it would give away some surprises towards the end... Now that the movie is over.. I can only remember one iconic scene... The skydiving scene.. Thinking back to the previous films I can remember dozens of great shots forever burned into my psyche.. This film was virtually forgotten before the lights came on...except for the ringing in my ears.
Am I glad I saw it?? Yes.. if for no other reason that what happens to Tony Stark at the end will figure into the next Avengers film which is due out in early 2015. Downey's contract is up EXCEPT for 2 more Avengers movies. Did I enjot IM3? Sure, but not as much as I was hoping, but... It's easily worth seeing once... Downey does a helluva job.

Cons too complex, over-kill

The third installment of Iron Man, is a visual powerhouse. In 3D, the explosions and fight scenes are breathtaking. The actors and directors did very well on this one. Good story line as well; my only issue is with the character development of the Mandarin, while it made for a good laugh I was expecting more.

This is a great movie lot of action and suspence great for all ages. Keeps you going throughout this movie. Adults as well as kid loved this movie last night were got to go see the preview and it was worth the wait. We didi the 3d version. Hope you al enjoy this movies as much as we did.

Liked everything about it. Robert Downey Jr. was hilarious but still serious enough to keep my attention throughout the whole movie. No one could replace him as Iron Man. Special effects were tremendous. It's one movie that I will see again.

The movie went quickly without following up on several questions and seemed to compress alot. Becoming an issue, very interesting stories having to be compressed because of the short attention span of viewers. It is a negative for viewers like myself.

I saw this movie last night in 3D - save your money and either wait for the DVD or at minimum pay only for standard non-3D. Special effects were ok but, definitely not in keeping with IM1 or 2.
This story revolves around Tony's ability to cope and candidly, was very lacking in substance given the persona they built up for him in IM1 & 2 - very inconsistent and reasoning for it was weak. They could have spent more time developing fewer concepts and made it a greater story but, instead they packed the story and only allowed for very shallow framework behind it.
Overall movie was a good action movie but, special effects definitely not worth the 3D dollars charged.
Pros decent special effects, some funny "stark" moments
Cons pace too fast to allow true development, weak storyline

What can you say but Iron Man never disappoints. Funny in the right parts and serious when it needed to be. You get to see a bit more of Tony's humanity and heart in this movie which is a little IRONic considering how poorly his heart operates overall. The CGI was fantastic and even tho the story was a little slow at points there was great music to make up for it. I am thrilled I could see it first out and I will wait with baited breath to see what he does next!!
