Michael Bay did a very good job making a very dark storyline comical and watchable. I would recommend seeing this movie, but I wouldn't go see it if you are averse to physical violence and adult content.

I thought the movie was overall good. The actors are what made the movie even greater. I thought there were just one too many gross parts. And some what half way I got tired of watching it; story line is too stretched out.

Worst movie I've seen this year! I agree with other reviewer. Don't waste your money, not even on a rental. Wait till it host cable. Then at least you can change the channel! Check out 42 or Oblivian instead.
Seriously, Pain & Gain is really bad! Don't take a wife, girlfriend or kid and drive yourself so you can leave early.

This was a good movie with humor throughout. I was expecting it to be more of a comedy film, but it definitely was not. There were times in the movie that were a little weird, but overall I would reccomend to see the movie. It is not one that I would particularly watch again. The actors were great and were a great choice for this story line.

A potent mix of humor, mayhem and mystery, Pain an Gain is a very good movie. What erg is solid as usual and Anthony Mackey finally finds a role worthy of his immense talent. But it is Dwayne Johnson who steals the show as a Jesus and coke loving ex-con with a big body and a small brain.
You will have trouble believing this is a true story but it is! And what bloody fun it is.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, the rock

This movie ranks as one of the worse movies I have ever seen. I see now why they got two of the hottest actors to star in movie. No one would ever go see it without them. For those of us who love the actors how disappointing for us. Wait till DVD and then wait for it to be the last movie you pick. Can't believe this was a true story.

"Pain & Gain" is based on a true story about three guys who are tired of the poor life and are looking for a fast way to get rich.
Daniel Lugo (Mark Wahlberg) is a regular bodybuilder and personal trainer at a Florida Gym called the "Sun Gym" along with his friend Adrian Doorbal (Anthony Mackie). They both concoct a plan to kidnap and extort money from a gym member Victor Kershaw (Tony Shalhoub) who is a rich business man.
Along the way Daniel and Adrian convince a recently paroled convict Paul Doyle (Dwayne Johnson) to help them. They became "The Sun Gym Gang". They successfully get Kershaw to sign over all of his holdings and money, but when Kershaw survives their murder attempt on him, he convinces investigator Ed Du Bois (Ed Harris) to try and get his money and property back. The story unfolds from there...
I found it very hard to believe that this story was true. It's such a hare-brained scheme. Some of the events seemed impossible to pull off.
There is a tremendous amount of crude sexuality, nudity and profane language used in the movie.
There are some really funny parts where you will be laughing out loud at them, but not with them. There are too many plot wrinkles. Too much graphic violence and the saga is just plain dizzy.
If you are familiar with this story then by all means do see "Pain & Gain" otherwise wait for it on DVD, Blue Ray or Cable.

I found this movie very entertaining and fun to watch. Both Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson did a great job. Dwayne Johnson's character was hilarious. These guys are far better actors and way more entertaining than most overpaid Hollywood actors. Check this movie out, it's well worth it.
