We've been waiting for months to see this after having seen the previews. Started out slow but picked up. Could be a little depressing for seniors of an age who may have assisted living in their future. But it was such a beautiful place; sign me up. Great love story, too. We're big Maggie Smith fans after discovering Downton Abbey.

A lovingly crafted, beautifully acted, superbly shot work of art. While the story line runs to fairly simple (which will make some people shrink from it) it is wonderfully brought to life with vivacity by a great cast all acting at the top of their games. That alone keeps it from being too saccharine. We loved the serene sense of acceptance without surrender that the occupants of the home show throughout. It was a joy to watch and would watch it again. Highly recommended.........to non-cynics

This movie has it all - fantastic writing, great acting, engaging and charming. Directed by Dustin Hoffman, starring Maggie Smith and Billy Connolly. Screenplay by Ronald Harwood, Oscar-winning writer of The Pianist. From IMDB, "At a home for retired musicians, the annual concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday is disrupted by the arrival of Jean, an eternal diva and the former wife of one of the residents." Such a nice change to see a movie that depends on the writing and the acting instead of CGI and special effects. If you love Downton Abbey, you'll enjoy this movie.
