They have done an excellent job looking at an extremely important moment in our history and capturing it without using profanity and violence (like most movies try to do today to capture an audience).

Movie is an adaptation of "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin, a renowned presidential historian. The movie looks at Lincoln's struggle to get the House to pass the 13th amendment to the Constitution. Great film that highlights Lincoln's human side and humor during this critical time in his presidency. Outstanding acting across the board. Daniel Day Lewis IS Lincoln. Tommy Lee Jones says as much with his facial expressions as he does verbally. Like so many of Spielberg's movies, it is A MUST SEE!

"Lincoln" is a HUGH ambitious undertaking for Steven Spielberg, but he pulls it off nicely.
"Lincoln" focuses on the last few months of our nation’s 16th president and his trials and tribulations at getting the Emancipation Proclamation passed and ending the war.
"Lincoln" is a great story nicely done. Two-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis as "Lincoln" will make you believe. The cast of this movie is very talented and deep.
"Lincoln" is definitely worth the price of admission.

Go watch this flim, it's really good. The story is awesome, and all the actors are terrific. I sure enjoyed this movie. It was sure worth the full price of adimission. The story does wrap around your attention the entire time, it's not boring at all. I recommened going and watching it for your self 100%.

Enlightening, educational, spellbinidng. The depth to which the drama took us was a more complete understanding of Linloln; his life, the times and the struggle to inact a momumental amendment to the constitution. The war sceens depict the savagry of what the country went through to become a united nation. Another hugh success for Spielberg. Thankful we have such a talent to display so many epic stories. All of the actors did exceptional performances. It felt like we were actually there.

I thought this movie was one of the best I've seen in a long time. After reading Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln i was very excited to see this movie! I would give Daniel Day-Lewis and Steven Spielberg an academy award for this movie. Thank you Mr. Spielberg for giving us a beautiful sense of why the people loved him so.

This is a veritable cornucopia of good things: actors, scenes, camera work, lighting. The writing was the only thing not up to snuff. But so full of production values that I sometimes felt I was looking at pictures with the color too saturated, or listening to music played too loud. The result was that while I enjoyed the movie I also felt a bit distant from the drama. Having said that, much of the audience applauded at the end. And Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field should get Oscar nominations. But I don't think the picture should. But it will. It is interesting to see what we choose to elevate in our most current heroes, and how times change.

No movie can capture the complexity of the times and the characters involved in the most trying time in our nation's history. This movie doesn't try. It instead focuses on the 13th Amendments passage and does an excellent job. DDL's nails Lincoln. The end of the movie is perfect for Lincoln fans and a fitting tribute to our greatest president and martyr whose strength, vision, patience and faith helped give a new birth to our nation.

This was so much better than I expected. I knew Daniel Day Lewis would give another award-worthy performance - but I am delighted that Spielberg did not give us his usual overly sentimental flair resulting in an overwrought spectacle. This is NOT a bio-pic - but a thoughtful interpretation of how President Lincoln challenged the party opposition to get the 13th Amendment passed - his strategy and the ultimate permanent result. Day-Lewis delivers an exquisite interpretation of Lincoln - down to the odd walk he reportedly had. HIs relationship with his wife Mary Todd is not sugar-coated but felt very real and was depicted to be as tumultuous as the historians have claimed. The film leaves you with a true sense of important American history that ironically (or not) mirrors much of today's divisive political climate. This comes in as my second all-time favorite Spielberg film. Well done!

In a performance for the ages, Daniel Day-Lewis portrays a warm, war-weary, folksy, and intensely intelligent Abraham Lincoln fighting for U.S. House approval of the 13th Amendment during the final months before his assassination. Above all, Spielberg's "Lincoln" illuminates the political brilliance of Lincoln, an Illinois lawyer who was not above twisting arms and granting patronage in return for votes.
The supporting cast is tremendous (particularly Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field) and the cinematography is stunning, particularly in scenes outside of the White House and the House chamber. Tony Kushner's script (based partly on Doris Kearns Goodwin's brilliant book, "Team of RIvals") is generally excellent, although I found a few scenes to be awkward because they were not realistic. For example, is it believable that two Union foot soldiers would have memorized the Gettysburg Address and recited it to the President in an impromptu battlefield setting a year after he delivered the speech?
The film's ending is problematic -- in particular, the lack of context on Gen. Robert E. Lee and the indirect portrayal of the president's assassination. But I greatly appreciated the opportunity to hear Day-Lewis deliver part of Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address, one of the great speeches ever given by an American president.:
"With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations."
