If you have an open mind, please realize that collectivists hate this fabulous film, although most have never read Ayn Rand's novel or seen either of the movies. Critics in the liberal media/ Hollywood establishment understandably damn it, because Rand's philosophy of self reliance is the antithesis of their creed. We all hope and pray that Ryan's chilling vision of the downfall of America will never happen, but when you see this movie and think about the last four years, you must decide for yourself. Either way, you need to ask, "Who is John Galt?"
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, thought provolking, mystery
Cons some uncomfortable ideas
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Ayn Rand was on they money. This is a perfect display of where our society is headed. I would have enjoyed it even more if it did not resemble a 2 hour edition of our evening news. America is failing miserbly, and this film is just barely ahead of current times.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, socially relevant
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I liked Ayn Rand's novel but this movie was a waste of money. This was a low budget film which did not stay true to Rand's novel. It dragged on and left out much of the information that was in the book. It should have been presented in two parts that were released no more than a year apart and it should have ended with Part II. Additionally, they should have told us that Part II was not the end of the movie. Based on what I saw, I doubt if they will ever be able to raise enough money from Part II, to afford to make Part III.
Cons bad acting, slow, low budget
No, I do not recommend this movie.

We're living this movie, or soon will be. Deep regulation by the government combined with a large percentage of the population believing they're entitled to the producers money, are elements of today's society. Ayn Rand forsaw the immense regulation of the coal industry which we are feeling the impact of today. (100 or our 500 plus coal factories have had to close their doors due to federal regulations.) Ayn Rand warned us that this societal shift was coming, and it is, virtually, here now. Take your undecided friends to see this movie!
Pros timely
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The book behind Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's classic tale of a time when the capitalist leaders of business and industry go on strike. With builders, creators and industrious workers gone, the world is run by committees and ruled by compromise. Things begin to crumble.
Atlas Shrugged II is missing both the beginning and the end of Rand's epic novel. Apparently part 1 was produced, but I've been unable to find it. Thus part 2 seems to begin in the middle. A ten minute prologue could have remedied this with a little character development and some insights as to how the world came to be ruled by the "Fairness Doctrine." The end is also unsatisfying and begs for a better conclusion. As for the cream in the middle - not bad enough to pan, but not good enough to rave about. My suggestion is to first read the book, and if you can find it, watch 'part 1' before spending time on 'part 2' Let's hope 'part 3' brings a little more meat to the table.
Pros great story
Cons lacks insightful beginning
Yes, I recommend this movie.
