I was so blown by how unrealistic this movie was, however, it was still good and kept your attention. The ending was a little shocking to me. I wouldn't give it away, but Would I see it again, Yea, I suppose.

Mama is a fantastic horror movie. Suspenseful, dramatic and not campy, at all. Also, the backstory does not have the normal horror movie cliches.
The girls are believable as "coming out of the woods" after five years. Hats off to both actresses and the makeup artists who make it work.
Well worth seeing.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, storyline, artistry & makeup

I thought the movie served it's purpose to scare yet be a great movie! I haven't been scared like that in a long time. It was a great movie! I highly recommend my friends to go see it. The ending was not what was expected by my husband and I. Great way to do it though!! Keep up the awesome work!

It is very hard to scare movie lovers now adays but this movie does an alright job of it. There are some parts in the movie where you find yourself squeezing your dates hand. Some of the speacial effects are fakey but overall a good horror movie.

It is hard to scare a society that has real demons in ti everyday, a nation where a serial killer is the start of a popular TV show. Mama tries and often succeeds until the end when everyone starts doing "stupid movie people stuff" like going into haunted cabins at night and trying to reason with evil demons. In the end, it is worth seeing, especially if you lije Jessica Chastain's breasts.

I mean I am definitely not a big horror fan whatsoever, and I hardly ever watch them, unless they are like classics. However this was not bad I was debating whether to give it 3 or 4 stars, and obviously I gave it 3. I felt like the story was basically cliche, although I am not very keen in the horror genre so I really have no say in that aspect, but it did have it's original aspects in it. Jessica Chastain was good, but I did like her more for ZDT. I did like the way they made the relationships of the girls, and their uncle and his girlfriend, which is Jessica. I was impressed with the directing even though I hadn't heard of him before, and am pretty sure I haven't seen anything of his. The ending was a little weird, but a happy/sad ending type of thing. If you like horror you will enjoy yourself in this movie, there are plenty of jump scares, and some suspenseful build. Decent run time. Enjoy yourself while watching if you are a horror fan. Signing out, me.

Good scary movie. Based upon the story of La Llorona of Mexican folklore. Story used throughout history to control the children with threats of something getting them if they are bad.
Well worth seeing...good monster...evil doctor....revenge.

The Guillermo del Toro produced “Mama” is an overwhelmingly creepy film, rich in fine acting and startling visuals. It tells the tale of two young girls who, after having lived alone in the woods for five years, are rescued by a young couple. What was keeping them alive? We soon find out, as a very protective ghostly Mama reveals herself at the family’s house, and quickly begins trying to take “her” girls back where they belong. This is a solid ghost story, atmospheric and frightening, but softened by an overuse of unnecessary CGI and far too many cliche genre inclusions. But the amazing performances, especially those of the two young girls, summon this thriller back from the dead and into the realm of Good Movies.
