After much critical hype and at the prodding of a good friend, I decided to subject myself to this 90-minute look at video games whose characters come-to-life.
Although the premise was quite promising and the key characters were at times entertaining, in the last analysis, the film drifted into the banal and outright boring!!
Even the otherwise stellar vocal performances of John C Reilly(Ralph), Sarah Silverman(Vanelliope), Jack McBrayer(Fix-it Felix) and Jane Lynch(Sgt. Calhoun)had their moments, it was the overall story-line of the film that eventually sent this primarily kiddie pic into a nauseating tail-spin from which it never recovered!!
Too much time was spent in "Sugar Rush" Land to carry this film to a more satisfying conclusion!
Unless you like to view brilliantly illustrated sweets for 30-minutes, the extra money spent for the 3-D version was quite a waste!
While some small children may find this amusing, most adults will, probably, be anxious for the exits as the film progresses!
Cons boring too long
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I have to admit, it was great seeing the characters of games I grew up seeing when Atari was out. It was a great movie and would highly recommend adults watching the movie as well. It's a fun movie to watch.

I took my 5 y/o and 8 y/o and they both liked it. We did the 3-D. The part of the story around gaming was a little to complex for both of them, and my 5 y/o got a little bored near the end, but they both understood the storyline for the most part, laughed at the funny parts, and gave it a solid thumbs up. There was nothing offensive or otherwise inappropriate, so I was sort of surprised it got a PG rating, as it could have been a G movie. Admittedly, I might have missed a joke when I took one of my kids to the bathroom.
Pros great actors, 3-d
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie is a class Pixar animated film, in that it tells a great story with a lot of well developed, funny characters. It's a great concept, lots of twists, and just great comedy. My kids 6 and 10 loved it, but I might have even loved it more. A lot of fun.

I went to Wreck-It Ralph with guarded expectations. What I got was a very original story that made me laugh out loud ( yes, literally). As a parent who grew up during the height of arcade, Nintendo (the original), and even Atari (Google it, young generation), it was vastly entertaining to see many characters from those games on the big screen now. Once you take that first step inside the arcade game, you are in for an entertaining and (how many times have I used the word original?) ride. If you have ever wondered what the worlds of your favorite games might actually be like, this movie will take you there. With a very funny and easy to relate to character , I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Who out there does not know a "Fix-It Felix" who has overshadowed you? And what a great way to get a message across to kids that if you really want to try, you CAN exceed the expectations of others.
As far as the 3D, I am not a huge fan of that. There was nothing special about the 3D that made it worth it to me to wear recycled glasses the entire time. However, if your kids enjoy 3D, in the least I hope you enjo the movie as much as I did.
Pros well paced, great story
Cons potty humor (if that offends you)
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie will surprise you as it twists and turns in directions you could never predict. For a plot line that follows video game characters, it's surprisingly emotional and sweet, while packing in the laughs amid a mind-blowingly beautiful art direction. Disney is at the top of its game!

This movie is a plus, if you are in the mood for something cute. If you like to find something really upsetting. Ifound myself predicting the next event and had it down to the tee, except for the ending with the little girl with the glitch problem. I thought the overall idea of putting games together into a movie was very original. That is way I give this movie a 5. A four because it truly was predictable for the most part. Other than that, I would give this movie a 4.5 rating if it were possible.

My four year old son and I boy enjoyed this film for entirely different reasons. He loved the colors and the characters and some of the slap-stick comedy (this film was refreshingly light on this by the way). I enjoyed the story (though it was a bit formulaic) and the video game references.
I'd definitely recommend this film to anyone.

While of course the usual Disney messages in a kids' movie, Sarah Silverman and Jane Lynch drive Wreck-it Ralph to new levels of enjoyment for adults as well. From the sly references to cultural trends of the past to Lynch's perfect pitch Calhoun, we were all laughing non-stop.

Wow, what a great movie! The creators took their time and attended to details, making this movie highly enjoyable. I would even go so far as to say Wreck It Ralph gives the Toy Story movies a run for their money. Go see it, you won't regret it and you may even go back again for a second time. Those parents (like me) who grew up in the early-to-mid-80's & played the video games depicted in the movie will also enjoy the fond memories it brings back.

My 8 year old daughter and I saw this film together as part of a night out. This brief review is specifically written from that perspective.
See it. Your child will be thoroughly entertained, as one of the lead characters is a young girl. It's in 3D. It's Disney. She'll love it.
And you won't be tortured. The hero is of course the Ralph of the title, and as Disney characters go, is someone a lot of Dads can relate to or at least be amused by. The animation is pretty cool (especially in 3D), there are references to some old video games from our generation (Qbert, Frogger et al), and the story isn't as lame as most of the others I've had to sit through.
And Sarah Silverman's voice, even as little girl, is quite enjoyable ;-)
Dad's: if you're looking for a way to bond and entertain your 6-10 year old daughter, this is money well spent.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
