The cinematography was over the top. The sound and language set the benchmark for all future HD recordings. The costumes were unforgetable. If not the best, one of the best movies I've seen.

This production was wonderful! Although it was on film, we felt as though we were part of the live audience. Watching this professional drama made Shakespeare, and all his insight into the many complexities of human nature, come alive before our eyes! Again!

I know I would have enjoyed seeing this live production, but if I hadn't seen this movie version of it, I would have missed a lot. Each actor was extraordinary. The movie gave me close-ups of faces and costumes and make-up that I would not have seen in a theater. The language was clear and sounded so contemporary. Please, please do more movies of theater of this caliber!
I have flirted with the idea of going to Stratford in Ontario for years, but it is much more likely to happen now.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, extraordinary effects, understood every word, costumes!, make-up!, close-ups!, direction!, music!, sets!

When it's done right, it's sublime, and no one does it better than Christopher Plummer. A beautiful production, masterfully directed by Des McAnuff, both as a stage production and a filmed version. The ret of the cast was terrific. SO happy I was able to see this.
