Half the audience left in the first 15 minutes after they realized the weird dialogue was going to continue for another 2 hours. 98 percent of the film takes place in a limo. I hung in there hoping it would get better. It didn't. Obviously by the reviews, there are people who enjoyed the film but if you prefer films with a story, this film may not be for you.
Cons too complex, slow

Loved this dark, edgey & strange movie! The book had such stylized language (although a good read) that I found the movie easier to follow at times. The camerawork was perfect (of course). How David was able to know he could get this kind of acting out of Robert is one of the reasons why he is so very good at his job. Will watch again On Demand!
Pros great story, great actors, sexy
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I was very impressed at the level of commitment Rob made to the character Eric Packer. It was a wonderful experience to watch the destruction and simultaneous evolution of his character on-screen. To see him initially start as almost robotic to finally expressing powerful human emotion by the end was nothing short of brilliant.
The dialogue is a little hard to follow, initially but I got the hang of it rather quickly and enjoyed the rather poetic prose by the end of the film. There were periods of sheer awkwardness that were, I believe, necessary in the film and David and Rob do a good job of allow the viewer to be guided through the movie and at times, draw our own conclusion based on the events unfolding on-screen.
The final climatic scenes at the end between Benno and Packer are the very best in the movie, second being Packer and his wife's - with their final scene being the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.
If there were ever a doubt that Rob could act before Cosmopolis, those concerns should clearly be laid to rest now. Long gone is the sparkly vampire and a true Hollywood legend in the making has arisen from those ashes!
I highly recommend you see this movie. Go support two amazing artists at the top of their craft!
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

Strange and brilliant. Funny and sad. Weird and wonderful. Totally different and totally worth it. Rob Pattinson and David Cronenberg nailed it. And Paul Giamatti is the icing on the cake. Cosmopolis is very stylized and not for those looking for superheroes in funny suits or long boring car chases. The dialog is lifted right from the book and and the movie is faithful in tone. While it may start out as monotone or robotic, as the film progresses you can see the change overtaking the main character. At first he seems like an individual detached from the world and himself but through out the movie you see his unravelling and how his desire to find meaning to his life and a connection to people leads him to a time and a place where he can actually feel again however briefly. Robert Pattinson is incredible in David Cronenberg's sublime hands He takes us on a fantastic journey across town for a lot more than just a haircut . You may have to rewatch it to pick up on the nuances and the meaning behind the meanings, but that's part of the fun. This is the epitome of an anti popcorn movie which would have probably been better suited to an October release. Whenever you see it though, it's well worth the ride.
Pros great story, great actors, great direction
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Loved this movie. The dialogue Cronenberg scripted from the book was amazing. I was thinking about what the characters said long after the scene moved on and long after the movie was over. The direction (as usual from Cronenberg) was impeccable. Pattinson and the supporting cast really showed off their acting chops. The ending scene between Pattinson and Giamatti was intensely funny and sad. Dark humor ran throughout the film. Pattinson's portrayl of Packer's unraveling was subtle and powerful.
Pros great story, great actors

The dialogue was so deadpan-jaded-chic, I kept thinking, "somebody is going to slip...there's no way that they can keep this up for the whole movie", but, they actually pulled it off. Impressive.

Watch it. Read it. Listen to the story as it unfold or refolds. Don't expect to feel the cozy comfort of routines.
