If you loved the books you will still love this. Well crafted with plenty of special effects, great chemistry between Lily and Bower. A love story
equal to twilight but with more depth.

I loved this movies it was amazing. The cast was good and so was the story line, I have watched it two times and am going back to watch it a third time. I've never read the book but i think the movie was great. Im going to purchase the books to get caught up but seriously it is nothing like twilight. It is not fair for people to give it a bad review because they are not into the supernatural or fantasy genre. Truly it was amazing the cast, music, story line was just Amazing.

I really loved the movie. The turn out was great. I know we can't really expect the movie to be and exact interpretation of the book but it was still great. A lot of the actual words and phrases that were in the book were in the movie. and with just that knowing that they really wanted the fans to know that they really didn't want to change a whole lot means a great deal to us. The fans. Again I loved it and i can't wait until they make City of Angels!!!!!

I really liked this movie. It was a good pace and kept you interested. It is a little different from the book. But has basically the same feeling as the book. Over all I was glad to see this movie and can't wait for the second one to come out.

I don't think were talking about Emmy's or anything but it was a fun, exciting, adventurous movie that took you away from reality for 2 hours. Isn't that what movies are supposed to do? There were moments that reminded me of Harry Potter, Twilight and other mythical movies I had previously seen. The cast was good, focusing on Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower. I had not seen Jamie Campbell Bower before and was immediately struck by how much he reminded me of a young Heath Ledger. The art and special effect were excellent. Overall, there wasn't really any new story here but the movie was fun and entertaining so...3 stars for me.

Was the director present during the shooting of this film? If so, then wow... and when I say wow, I mean amazing levels of awful.
I read these books with my kids and the movie did not do the story justice. Now it's not like this series is epic by any standard... but with today's movie making technology and the field of actors available, this should be a slam dunk. But no....
The acting was neophyte as a whole... but I blame the director for this.. the dialog in the whole movie felt like a walk-thru. The only thing missing was the duct tape on the floor marking their positions.
One stand-out acting moment was a scene where the character Simon professed love for the lead character Clary. Before and After that... nothing worth mention.
Tongue-in-cheek moments are supposed to be intentional, if not subtle. But the laugh-out-loud moments were so numerous that I had to suppress myself out of courtesy to others who'd spent way too much money to see the film.
The Musical Score had a Cut & Paste feel to it. In most cases the emotion of the score did not line up with the emotion portrayed in the scene by the actor.
Bottom Line - I'm giving the actors a pass on this one... if they keep this director on the next installment, then shame on the studio.
Score: ABYSMAL

This movie is being unfairly maligned by critics because of the recent twilight backlash. It is NOTHING like twilight! Just because this genre may not be favored by critics doesn't mean it's bad. It was excellent! Great casting, great musical score, and lots of action. What more could you want? LOVED Jamie Campbell Bower most of all!
