Graduate student Lola (Greta Gerwig) gets dumped by her boyfriend just before the wedding. For the rest of the movie, she struggles with this jolt. She talks about life with whoever will listen. She listens to her best pal girlfriend (second banana and co-screenwriter Zoe Lister-Jones, who grates like fingernails on a chalkboard). She tries new romances. She plods along. Too bad not much really happens. Well-intentioned but not particularly entertaining.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This is yet another high-brow pseudo-intellectual rag starring Greta Gerwig. In this movie, she's 29 and in love with a guy who proposes to her and then breaks up with her because he "needs space." She's also in the middle of getting her Phd, which is just something she's doing and doesn't seem to take up as much time or effort as one would think. It does, however, need inspiration and she finds it only after her heart is broken and she goes through the usual grief involved after a breakup. The best thing about this movie is the dialogue. See it if you like strong modern women and hate to see them crumble.
Pros great actors
Cons too complex
Yes, I recommend this movie.
