If i never hear the word BRO again until the time of death......I'll be ok with that !.....2 cops thriving on testosterone....check.........overacting latinos saying "homey, bro , and f*ckin'....check, gritty underbelly of LA.....all viewed on a handheld camera......check.! ....candid moments of sentiment between actors that have no connection .....check check!
oh dont forget the intense random violence so that say "wow that was intense'....check!
btw......badly edited, no continuity of consequence, and a sad misuse of some very talented actors !

The ending was great! Only if the beginning had less disgusting language. I don't mind swearing in a movie, but every other word.

Do not waste your time going to see this movie. The camera work was crap. there was no real story line. unless you think that a couple inmature young cops running around shooting everyone and cursing every other word is a story line. The only real plot was dont mess with the cartel if you want to live. acting was sub par. I can not believe that I wasted $20 to go see this mess. I was a cpo for 15 yrs and this is a disgrace to my profession. If anyone would ever act in this way they would not be a cop for long.

End of watch was a tear jerker. I was not expecting to cry. This movie was very graphic and showed the life of a cop. I didn't really care for the F word every other word. However the acting was incredible and that was one of the only few redeeming qualities of this movie. It was not a bad movie, but I'll never watch it again.

This was a great movie that held my attention throughout. The characters were realistic and it was a good action movie with comedy and drama thrown in. The acting was great, as was the writing. The camera work, however, spoils the experience. My daughter became dizzy and nauseated due to the unsteady, rapid panning on the screen that requires you to look away from the action.

I thought this movie was excellent from start to finish. It has humor, drama, interesting dialoque, action, insight to another part of life and a good ending. I will watch it again and have already recommended to friends and family to see it.

This movie is ROUGH!! That's the meaning of the asterisk. Family of law enforcement should be prepared -- it ain't pretty!! I wanted mine to retire after seeing this!! The acting is outstanding!! The F-bombs are distracting to say the least bc I don't talk that way and am not exposed to that but my cop says it's realistic. The bond and brotherhood between cops is beautifully achieved. The experience for the families is also explored.

David Ayer’s latest cop-drama is gritty, violent and full of perfect moments of flawlessly recreated reality. “End of Watch” is told through a combination of first person video captured by Officer Taylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) for his film class, as well as traditional methods, resulting in a refreshingly vibrant mix of styles and storytelling. We watch Officers Taylor and Zavala (Michael Pena), the ultimate buddy cops, as they drive around what may be the most dangerous beat in America: Los Angeles’ South Central. After an exciting opening shootout they get perhaps a bit full of themselves and investigate a house they might shouldn’t have investigated. The horrors they uncover expose a large drug cartel who then sets their sights on the two officers, throwing the usual “don’t kill cops” rule to the wind in pursuit of preserving their business. Led by a man known as Big Evil (because his “evil is big”), the cartel sets up a riveting last act that pits the two resourceful cops in an all-out war with the whole gang of fully-automatic-toting baddies. In between we get insightful glimpses at the lives behind these two brave badges and the women who pray for them to come home (Natalie Martinez and Anna Kendrick). “End of Watch” is another realistic cop-drama from the writer of “Training Day” that brims with emotion and violence. This was a good movie. It did have a TON of cussing, but I think they were really trying to accurately portray cops in that area of LA. This movie had light-hearted, humorous moments, but it was very heavy subject matter. Definitely gritty and not for kids (even if accompanied by a parent)! It also shows law enforcement in a good light, rather than acting like all cops are pigs. I would recommend it to anyone who can handle the cussing and heavy subject matter. The story is awesome, just heavy, but cops have to deal with heavy stuff, so making it heavy was appropriate for this movie.

I agree with the previous reviews: this movie has action, its gruesome, you can get a headache from the camera work, and more F-bombs than you will ever see in a movie, maybe more than all the movies you have seen combined. However, I do not agree with their generous ratings. My wife and I go the movies a lot and this the first time that I wanted to leave before the end of the movie like a few other couples did. The only reason we didn't leave is that we had just finished a tub of popcorn and weren't hungry enough to go for dinner. I will admit that the two principal actors wre excellent.

The dialogue was hard to hear at times, but not the F Bomb - it was every 3rd word said and at time not necessary. God help us all if all of the USA starts to talk this way. As such, not a good movie for children. They don't need to be hearing this kind of language. We have to do something about the drugs along the boarded states. It is very out of hand.

Great story & acting. The camerawork is very jumpy & can cause a headache but was a great movie otherwise. I have to say I've never heard so many F-bombs in a 2hour period ever though. Acting was very real which is nice.
