Great list of actors, but hugely disappointing. Story line boring. Scenes went on and on. Don't be fooled because of all the start names. We left 1/2 way thru. Awful.

While I liked the movie, frankly I was expecting just a little bit more from such an excellent cast. The supporting acting is strong, the dialogue is very funny at times and the characters are well developed. The storyline is strong but not exceptional. Clocking in at ~90 minutes "net" is a good thing else I feel it would have dragged on some. There certainly is some vivid violence with blood.

I am sure the writer, actors, directors, etc were more impressed with the creation and making of this movie than the final product produced.

I love most movies and do not have any issue with violence, but this movie had little plot, characters I could not identify with and little cohesiveness. It was slow moving for most of it and while the special effects were interesting and cool, they added nothing to the story. I would definitely not recommend it.

I knew nothing about this film going in other than it has a great cast. I was please to see that it is so much more. Brad Pitt is very good but it is James Gandolfini as a world-weary hit man who steals the show is a small but significant role.
The film explores the changes in new millennium America from the viewpoint of the lowest of the low and says emphatically that we are indeed all in this together.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

The trailer eluded to an action packed "gangster" type film, which I always enjoy. Unfortunately, all the action was in the trailer. There were a few parts of this film that were so drawn out and boring that I felt like taking a nap. But, the worst part was the pathetic attempt of a Hollywood director trying to make another political statement. I think this guy actually hates America! There was a constant barrage of political soundbites on the radio and TV in the background of the entire movie. It was distracting from the film and it flat out made me mad. I normally like most movies, but NOT this one.

Have you ever gone to an amusement park, gotten on a ride and then wished you could get off the ride after is started, but once it was going it didn't seem so bad. This is how "Killing Them Softly" seemed to me. During the first 35 minutes I wanted to leave the theater, but something made me stay and I am sort of glad I did.
"Killing Them Softly" is about a high stakes poker game involving 16 people who are robbed by some amateur thugs. Unfortunately the thugs rob the wrong people. One of the poker players calls in a cool, calm killer-for-hire (Brad Pitt) to take care of all who were involved with planning and executing the robbery. The story unfolds from there.
"Killing Them Softly" is brutal, intense and dark. There is nothing "Soft" about the movie. "Killing Them Softly"; appears to have been shot on a small budget, but has some really nice special effects and camera angles.
