It was a different role for Tylor Perry but I found that he was not convincing enough. The story line was a bit disappointing as I seen better with the series: Criminal Minds.
Overall, I would say that it was a good effort but it could have been better.

too bad they didn't follow the true story. In the books, Alex Cross grew up and lived in DC, not Detroit. What happened to his partner Sampson? His daughter was younger than his son.

Loved the book..loved the movie. Disappointed that it took place in Detroit instead of SE DC. Bring a tissue! Disappointed in his childhood friend who is his partner. Loved the character who played Alex Cross and Momma Nana.

Even though it didn't stick to the books, it stayed with the general idea of the background. I enjoyed it and my husband is hoping to see another one in the future.

I thought this was a wonderful movie and a lot of action. I enjoyed seeing Tyler Perry my favorite actor playing a more serious roll and it not even be his own movie. The entire cast did great. Thanks

My first issue with this movie was their choice of actor to play Alex Cross. While I appreciate Tyler Perry's other work, this character was not a good fit for him. He seemed awkward, forced & very difficult to connect with in this particular movie.
The story line itself was difficult to get into as well. I have not read this particular book so I'm not sure how closely they stuck with the story line. But compared to Kiss The Girls & Along Came A Spider, this movie has a long way to go.

I wasn't planning on seeing this movie. My friend came in from out of town and said she wanted to see it. I said ok....well I have to say ultra violence, but I actually liked the movie, it was well acted, and a good story. I would recommend seeing this movie - if you can stomach disturbing images.

I have to say that I was a little skeptical of Tyler Perry playing Alex Cross since I had such a vision of him in my head from reading the books and seeing past Cross based films, but I think he did a great job. Matthew Fox was amazing, he really played the role well down to his twitches and I can't believe how much weight he lost for the role. Movie was slow at times but not bad, fast parts made up for lulls. Overall good movie to see in theaters rather than wait for DVD.

My wife and I saw AC today and we loved it. The movie was awesome! I was a little skeptical at first that Tyler Perry would do well in an action role...I was pleasantly surprise. TP handled his business and did a great job. I must say the villan,Matthew Fox, deserves an award because he played his part well!!! I mean like WOW...dude is crazy. Good job Matt.

Intense - Emotional - Compelling.
Tyler Perry - WELL DONE! He captures the emotion needed for the role. Matthew Fox absolutely ROCKS!! Good Character work throughout. Alex Cross is smart but not perfect which makes for an interesting twist.

Tyler Perry did an incredible job, it was a very wise decision to choose this type of role, really shows his range & versatility, Matthew Fox was excellent as the villian(long way from "Party of Five" lol), the rest of the supporting cast not as strong but Cecily Tyson is a legend, awesome job as well. Overall, definitely worth seeing!

Based on a James Patterson novel series, Alex Cross (Tyler Perry) a detective/psychologist for the Detroit Police Dept finds himself and his team which consists of his long time friend Tommy Kane (Edward Burns) and police detective Monica Ashe (Rachel Nichols) trying to catch a ruthless, sadist serial killer who goes by the name of Picasso.
They play a deadly game of cat and mouse trying to stop what is to be believed as an assassination attempt on a European industrialist who resides in the suburbs of Detroit. Alex Cross must find a way to get inside Picasso's head so he can get one step ahead of him because that is the only way Picasso is going to be stopped. The story unfolds from there...
The plot and story are choppy. There is no cohesiveness. Tyler Perry does not make a good transition from comedy to suspense thriller. The Character Alex Cross does not come across as ruthless as his character is in the James Patterson novels. This is what makes the movie just ok.
The movie is not as bad as the paid critics indicated although it's definitely not as good as the previews made it look. Tyler Perry should stick to the "Madea" character. He is very good at that and not so good when there is a need to be ruthless and cunning.

I really enjoyed this movie! Tyler Perry showed another side of himself...he held his own in this movie!! Great story line and awesome acting! I would go watch it again!

Great acting, extremely intense! I wouldn't take a child to see it, though, too disturbing! Matthew Fox does an amazing job playing a sociopath, he does so well it's scary! Tyler Perry did a great job in this serious role. I'm glad he proved people wrong. Go see it!

I'm an avid James Patterson fan - have every Alex Cross in hardback. I thought the plot line was weak, characters were not well developed. Not a good reflection of the depth of the Cross or Patterson's storytelling. I did like Tyler Perry more than expected - he made a great Cross. Turned off from the beginning due to being in Detroit vs DC. I had high expectations, went opening night, and left feeling deflated. Sorry - this movie isn't up to Patterson standards in my book.

Matthew Fox deserves an Oscar, He gave me the willies even leaving the theatre. Tyler Perry was not Madea but he was not Alex Cross either. He needs a sharper look and a tailor. A lot of interesting camera work gave a movie that should have been R a PG 13 rating so be careful bringing the family.
