I loved this movie. It had something for everyone. Except, very little romantic involvement! This movie will not disappoint the diehard comic book person, nor anyone who just wants to see a well done, exciting, entertaining movie. Went to see it in IMAX 3D. The 3D was great, but got a little blurry when things were movie quickly. I think I would've liked it a little better without, but GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!

This movie was the best Marvel movie yet in my opinion. I loved everything about it and can't wait to add it to my collection when it comes out on DVD.

Great film for ComicBook Fans and those looking for a good action film. You did not need to understand the back story of each character to enjoy this. Good storyline and exceptional special effects carried the movie. You could really feel the power that superheroes have.

Growing up I loved the Avengers. This movie has been a dream come true for me as weird as that may seem. The story line was not true to what I rememeber being the Avengers but and I stress that they incorporated a lot of the backstory with changes to appeal to all audiences and in doing so made a great story even better. I am looking forward to where his goes from here and I cannot wait for the next Marvel movie to come out

This movie was definitely a fun ride. Each character all got plenty of screen time, Iron Man and Capt America were both showed a little more favoritism, however Iron Man and Hulk were the real spectacles. Everyone played their characters to a T, this movie's story line did start of lf a little slow, but I know each movie has to set up their story. Plenty of humorous dialogue throughout the film and nice little action scenes here and ther keep u entertained. The last 45 minutes are the best moments by far. A pure nerdgasm of all characters at their finest and collaborating together to make one hell of an ending. Can't wait to see a sequel if there is one. I'm sure this cash cow train isn't over.

This movie ROCKS! I've been waiting for this movie for 37 years. Joss Whedon nailed it, the action is paced just right, with a good amount of one liners to keep it light. Robert Downey Jr. has a lot of fun as Tony Stark. The story works well and the actors sell their roles with ease. I wasn't sure about Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, he did alright, but he's a little too beefy to be Bruce. All the other actors have played their characters before and this just cements their position. This movie is better than any of the solo hero movies that led up to it. Hopefully Joss comes back for the next one and can pull it off again. I saw the IMAX 3D version and while it looked and sounded fantastic, the 3D didn't pop as much as it could have. It had some depth but it didn't really add much. It should make a substantial amount at the the box office, and should get a few nods for the Oscars, but we all know that won't happen, the Academy always passes over movies like this. I just want to state again, this is a great movie, action packed and hilarious.

By far one of the funnest, roller-coaster ride movies I've seen in a long time. Better then the individual movies that collaborate for this! Outstanding direction, great story lines and well acted characters. Language was reasonable and very family friendly :) Can't wait for the next one!!!

As with all comic book movies, as a life-long comic book fan, I am cautious going in. Even more so when there is a lot of hype about a film (based on a comic book or not). I had enjoyed all of the big Marvel movies up to this point and I am very pleased to say that my mind was sufficiently blown away with The Avengers.
I saw The Avengers in 3D at Imax, but I will get to that in a moment. The main thing I'm always concerned with when it comes to a movie is the writing and the acting. As a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Serenity, and his run on Astonishing X-Men, I knew Joss would deliver. His sense of humor and style is evident at times throughout The Avengers. There were many times that I would say to myself "Ah...that's classic Whedon." And the acting? Just right.
For those not interested in the fact that this movie is based on the comic book characters and just looking for an action-packed summer movie, The Avengers will fill that role for you as well. I'm usually not a fan of the traditional blockbuster, action-packed, special-effects-riddled movies, but The Avengers takes what I love about comic book movies and adds all of that as well.
This was my first time at a 3D Imax movie and, everything else removed, that alone was enough to render me speechless. Rather than removing me from the movie, as I would have thought, the 3D effects really served to draw me in. I am aware that some movies use 3D effects as a gimmick, but rest assured that isn't the case here. My only recommendation when attending a 3D movie at an Imax theater (mind you, based on this, my one and only such experience) would be to arrive early and sit in the back. The very back. My eyes felt a little strained during some of the faster-paced action scenes as they tried to keep up with everything going on, but those times were rare.
Overall this may be one of my favorite movies, based on a comic book or otherwise.

This has to be the best superhero movie ever made. It had to be difficult to bring all of these characters together in a movie where no one character had the lead role. The movie was well acted, the script was great, and the special effects were REALLY special. The only way this movie could be improved upon is to do another one (soon). If you want a movie to take your better half to see, go see The Avengers!

If you love action movies or are a comic afficianido you will love this movie. The Avengers are right out of a comic book. Joss Whedon has done what has never been done before in movies by taking several franchises and combining them into one without any mistep. The Avengers is a great storyline for "we will triumph over adversity" and it works. For the length of the movie you will sit back and enjoy a rag tag group mesh into the world's Greatest heroes!

I watched this movie with my 21 year old twin boys. We've watched our fair share of super-hero flicks and would rate this one as one of the best!
This movie had a perfect mix of super-hero, special effects and humor.
Watching Scarlett Johanson walk around in skintight leather was pretty enjoyable as well.

Excellent Super-Hero Team-up movie. I took my boys ages 14 & 12 along with their Aunt age 43 and their Grandfather age 84 and all loved the show. The Theater was filled and from a quick survey of the room, it seems Disney's plan of aquiring Marvel Entertainment Group to better target Teenage males is a huge success. The Story was a bit simplistic. However, when you consider that this was a huge special effects blockbuster film and that the writers needs to cover the story of how and why these heroes team-up as the Avengers, it makes sense that they needed to keep the story from being too complex and hard to follow. The acting was surprisingly good and the on-screen chemistry was remarkable amongst the all-star, ensemble cast. My clan cannot wait for the next installment. However, my 12 y.o. pointed out that if the situation was so dire in the story that New York and indeed the Marvel Universe Earth was about to be conquored, where were the Fantastic 4, the X-Men and Spiderman as they all live in N.Y or were they all vacationing on a Disney Cruise in the Carrabean at the same time. Got to love the 12y.o. mind. LOL!

Joss Whedon did a fantastic job of blending all of these characters together, and the special effect were outstanding for the most part. Plus, it went with the movie, and blended really well. The Hulk looked really good this time around.

I have been waiting for this movie ever since collecting the Avengers comic book in 1979. This movie didn't disappoint! Followed the comic book persona really close. I recommend this movie to anyone that is a superhero fan!!

Loved this movie!!! My favorite is Tony Stark...He pulls it all together & keeps it all together! Robert Downey Jr just has that comedic wit that keeps you wanting more out of all the characters as well as he's just so darn sexy with his confidence! Thor of course is so nice to watch & look at...sorry,...couldnt help but watch his biceps..sad tho that he wasnt shirtless!! Some parts seem to drag just a tad in the story line & the archer character somehow to me, seems a bit off....BUT totally worth seeing it! 3D IMAX was the best to watchin in!! Too bad we didnt stay till after the credits tho....

Special effects and action made this movie good. Humor made this movie GREAT! 3D IMAX made it excellent!! Scarlett Johannson finally got another role she could command, Mark Ruffalo was a very likeable Hulk, Chris Helmsworth just had to show up (but his acting was very Thor). There wasn't a weak link in the cast, writing, FX, or anywhere else. Leave the kids at home, but you won't be wasting 3 hours of your life on this one!!!

Perfect summer movie. Joss Whedon strikes again. I will definitely see this movie multiple times before it leaves theaters. Great balance of action and humor. This is what comic fans have been waiting for in a marvel movie.
