After reading the book, i was very anxious to see how close they would stay to it in the movie adaptation. To my approval it was pretty spot on. This was a movie filled with a futuristic aspect while still have the sense of a rougher time in history. I thouroughy enjoyed this movie and I am vey happy of the actors chosen. They really acted out the characters well and stayed true to the book.

The book was amazing but so very detailed and only from katniss's perspective. Of course there are going to be changes in the movie since they have such little time to add in not just katniss's point of view but we get to see what happens with all the other characters. The cast was chosen smart and perfectly. They did an amazing job and I couldn't have asked for a better movie. Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins did an incredible job. And so did the cast.

The movie stayed true to the book for the most part. There are some differences that are sure to annoy a big fan of the books like myself but that is to be expected. My husband and I both really enjoyed the movie overall. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

This is the absolute BEST movie I have ever seen. Fans of the Hunger Games book, things have to change for movies, but this movie was still fantastic. There's tons of action with a hint of romance just like in the book. No one will be too disappointed in this movie and, being a diehard fan of the Hunger Games books myself, I absolutely loved it at the movie premiere and I am going back today to see it. I would recommend it to everyone I know. Everyone must read the Hunger Games and watch this movie.

Have read all three books. Did a great job in character selection and staying true to the novel. Looking forward to the next ones! IMAX was great. I was a little closer than I should have been, but that was my choice. Will know better the next time.

It's a great movie. The movie holds true to the book (considering movie time constraints). The IMax Experience was absolutely awesome! Keeping it at a PG rating made it appropriate young teens. It was well worth the wait.

I thought the movie was great. The producers of the film did a very good job of making the film just like the book. There were a few 'changes' in the film but they weren't that significant. I think they had to cut out a few things for time. The movie was 2 and a half hours long but I found myself wanting more at the end. If you haven't read the book, that ok because they did a good job explaining the story and although the movie is very fast paced it is easy to stay along with the story. They did leave a few things unsaid but I think they are holding it out until the second movie.
Overall, its a great movie. I recommend my friends and family to go watch it. I will be first in line next movie.

If you read the books, this movie will be everything you hoped for. Go for the IMAX experience - it won't be the same on a regular screen. I almost jumped out of my seat when the beasts came out. Unforgettable movie!!

I'm usually wary about seeing books turned into movies. Thankfully though, it seems the writers and producers of this film loved the books as much as I did. It's a faithful adaptation, with only a few minor changes that I can only imagine were made either due to time constraints or to keep the film PG-13. As far as the cast went, everyone was well cast and did a terrific job bringing their characters to life - particularly Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta. This was a smart, well done movie that should appeal to not only fans of the book but to a wide audience. I definitely recommend checking it out!

Usually, I get a little scared watching a book-turned-film. But this one was honestly the best I have ever seen. Right of the bat there was a slight change in the plot, but there had to be changes or the movie would be 5 hours long. I have never seen such emotion in a lead role, she created the character who I pictured and so much more. Every scene I remember thinking 'Wow that is exactly how I pictured it' and although I knew what was going to happen in the end, it was extremely suspenseful and just an overall amazing movie.
I can't wait until the DVD comes out. I want to watch it again.

I have read all the books,and am in love with this series. I was really concerned that they would make this movie focus more on the "love story" that is in the books. I am happy to report that is not the case. There are changes from the book to make it easier to follow on film,but the changes flowed well and did not change the purpose and over all message of the books. We are given a new perspective as we get to see the Capital more,and the behind the scenes workings of the games themselves. I was very impressed with this movie. All the acting was top notch. I would recommend this movie to all who have read and not read the books. Great Job. I look forward to the two remaining movies. Keep up the good work. :)

I have read all 3 books and fallen in love with them. Was a little worried going into the movie that it wasn't going to translate well into movie form, but i was very pleasantly surprised. Unlike twilight or harry potter where the movies were subpar compared to the books this one did stand up to the books true form. Of course things were cut, but if they weren't the movie would've been over 3 hours long. I am a very happy fan and I am going to see it again soon.

Overall I thought the movie was good, but not great. I found myself disappointed because I had read the books. The movie was very fast passed and I felt like I was missing things. I feel like you could not get attached to the characters as much as you did in the books, because they did not develop the relationships.

I have never read the books. I went at midnight with all of the zealots to see what the hype was for. It was a good movie, but not great. Think "Running Man" meets "The Truman Show". I did not like that little kids have to kill each other for TV entertainment. My kids will not be going to see this until they are over 15. The acting was good and the score was worth another listen. Overall I was disappointed.

I always get nervous when I fall in love with a book and then they make it into a movie. But for the first time in a really long time or ever maybe a movie stayed true to a book! I understand part had to be cut and in all it worked out nicely, I loved the add ons and was just pleasantly surprised. I felt all the same emotions watching it as I did reading the book. The actors were marvelous and I highly suggest seeing this movie even if you didn't read the book

I am a huge Hunger Games fan, read all the books more than two times. It's something that I think of daily, and talk about it. I just got back home from the midnight show. The movie over all was fine, but you would have to read the books first to understand what's going on in the movie. You couldn't really connect with the characters because there wasn't much detail, they didn't include important parts, at least according to me. The filming was shaky in some parts that it wasn't necessary, like in a fight I understand, but yeah. It didn't reach my standards at least.

Hunger Games has such a strong narrative structure, built-in forward movement and compelling central character that it can't go far wrong. Both fans of the books and those brand new to the story of Katniss Everdeen will find The Hunger Games compelling. With the first film proving the series is in good hands, I'm excited to see the next chapters play out onscreen. Rarely does a blockbuster live up to its overheated hype, but The Hunger Games proved to be an exception. Lawrence and this franchise will go far. A must see.
