If you love action movies, this is one you don't want to miss. It was fun seeing all the characters working together. Since I hadn't done any research on the movie, I was happily surprised when I saw that it was written and directed by Joss Whedon. (Big fan of Firefly & Angel.) My only complaint is that I wish I hadn't seen it in 3D, because the 3D effects just didn't wow me. Oh yeah, be sure to stay after the credits.

The Gods speak in 'olde English' (in and out of it). The Black widow tries to hold off an Alien army with handguns. Really? Think that will get it done? Based on audience reactions, I guess we've reached a point in our culture when story mediocrity will become the champion. Samual Jackson should have reclaimed his 'Shaft' personna, hey, which sequel will it be when he finally shows us what's behind that eyepatch? Whatever happened to character development? Generation of twelve minute attention span, you've arrived.

This movie had a lot of hype. It was not un-due! This is the best comic based action movie I have ever seen, and may be the best movie I have ever been to. Definitely worth the price of admission. The 3D effects were better than good.

The best way to say it is OMG they did a great job with every thing cant wait for Avengers 2 lol even my daughter and wife love it we saw it in 3D and love it how it came out to you i love the way they brought the characters to getter like i said cant wait for Avengers 2 i just hope they used the same Director and Writers. This movie didn't just exceed my expectations, it SMASHED them! Not only is this my new favorite superhero movie EVER [yes- besting even The Dark Knight], this is just one of my new favorite movies, PERIOD. Joss Whedon's screenplay and direction masterfully capture the very essence of each of the heroes, and the actors do an exceptional job of bringing everything to life. The team dynamic was expertly balanced- everyone had purpose individually as well as collectively. I will acknowledge that the story itself may be too straightforward for some to appreciate, but, given all the elements that had to be addressed and the genre in genereal, it is a work of total excellence. A tale must'nt be overly complex to be EPIC, and that's precisely where Avengers triumphs-- in its epic epicness!!! Just go already. And then go again!

Though there were times when the dialogue and acting seemed strained and out-of-character, the humor in the writing and pace of the movie off-set it nicely. I saw it in 3D and I recommend as a 3D movie. The visual effects were spectacular as I expected from a Joss Whedon movie. I was a little disappointed that the only "romance" was an insinuated infatuation/"hero"-worship towards Captain America... (Oops! that hinted at a spoiler).
Basically, I'm giving it a massive "GOTTA SEE LIKE NOW!" I actually wanted to go back to the ticket sales and get another ticket to see it again right away.

This is a best example to prove that even are superheroes are frail. They also have ego and it takes a push (agent colson's death) to form a team and fight to save the earth. The story needed more punch when it came to the alliens attacking earth. The alliens seem to be quite the same. Are we lacking imaginations about alliens. The climax sequence became a bit boring. It could have been more imaginative.
Overall a thrill to watch with the Real-D 3D.

This movie was absolutely awesome... I would go back to watch it a couple more times. The movie started off a little slow because they had to introduce each character, but once each character was introduced and they joined forces it just toke off. There was alot of action and it was also very funny. I would totally recommend this movie to anyone. Sit back relax and you will be taken into a different world. My fav character had to be the HULK--- SMASH!!!!

The movie all super hero movies should aspire to emulate. The Avengers builds on the recent success of Marvel Studios solo projects, encapsulating the best of the best in the Marvel Universe. Despite having a large cast, The Avengers manages to juggle significant amounts of screen time, giving each of the individual characters their due. While certain characters don't show tremendous growth, everyone has their moment to shine, and none of them feel extraneous or tacked on as fanboy service.
Robert Downey Jr. steals the show with his absolute ownership of the role of Tony Stark, delivering an award worthy turn as the supremely cocky and confident billionaire playboy, not afraid to trade quips or blows with the sharpest of minds and boldest of warriors. His inventive and brilliant mind is on full display, with his mischievous nature shining as brightly as his Iron Man armor.
Chris Evans continues to craft his "man out of time" Captain America as he plays the super soldier of the '40s adapting to the 21st Century. Slight touches in speech, such as the way he addresses Black Widow (at one point referring to her as ma'am) cement his anachronistic performance, reminding you that he is from the oldest of schools, enforcing the backstory already built without bludgeoning us over the head with constant call-backs.
Mark Ruffalo delivers a dual role with great aplomb, equaling (if not perhaps surpassing) the quality of Edward Norton's somewhat bookish portrayal of Doctor Bruce Banner. Thanks to CGI, Ruffalo also was the first actor to play not only Banner but the Jade Giant as well. One of the things I judge when considering a successful job at being the Hulk is how well the actor (or computer) captures the rage that drives the Hulk, and Ruffalo screams, strains, twitches and jerks like an enraged monster would.
Scarlett Johansson is stellar once again as the Black Widow Natasha Romanov, the femme fatale who knows how to get information from even the toughest of subjects. Far more than just the token female, she is first built into the ultimate fearless agent of espionage, then nearly broken by the most fearsome thing she knows, only to push through and be a vital key in saving the day.
Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton, the sharpshooting Hawkeye, brings the same cocky demeanor the actor delivered in his brief cameo in Thor. It takes a special actor to sell the bravado needed to wade into combat with super humans armed with only a bow and arrows, and Renner delivers.
Chris Hemsworth once again delivers as the Asgardian Prince Thor, bringing a somber dignity barely masking the fiery temper and arrogance that he has learned to suppress as heir to the throne of Asgard. Hemsworth gives Thor that slightly aloof demeanor of someone who truly doesn't understand humans, but knows that there is greatness within them.
Tom Hiddleston continues to make the role of Loki his. Gone is the veneer of good that he hid behind for much of the Thor movie, but that doesn't mean the Lord of Lies is done with his manipulations. His master scheme is truly complex and twisted, and his evil grin gives him the aura of the Devil himself.
Other supporting actors continue to shine as they have in the previous components of this movie formula. Sam Jackson's Nick Fury continues to be a true bad-ass. Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson continues to be common touchstone for the heroes and fans alike. Gweneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts is and excellent intellectual foil, emotional anchor and muse for Stark, a womanizer who has found his woman. Stellan Skarsgård returns as Erik Selvig, giving viewers another familiar face and holds together the core of the film. And newcomer Colbie Smulders gives the perfect tough-as-nails essence to SHIELD Deputy Director Maria Hill.
Humor. Emotion. Action. Drama. This movie has all of it, and in abundance. The score is by Hollywood veteran Alan Silvestri, and delivers the drama and the thunder when appropriate, but also characterizes well, such as the stringy Eastern European sounding Black Widow theme, and the patriotic and rousing Captain America theme. Add in the awesome use of AC/DC's Shoot to Thrill for Iron Man's suitably dramatic entrance, and you're tapping your feet for nearly the entire movie.

the 3D was one of the best ever. The action accompanied with comedy was the perfect combination. Though it was over 2 hours long, i could have watched it for even longer. on the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie

This was a great movie for a comic book fan. The dialogue was close to what you might read in a comic and the 3D effects were great. The plot was simple, but believeable. I especially enjoyed the Hulk's part and felt like cheering for the Avengers. Very good overall, glad I went to see it.

The Avengers is out of this world masterful in every element and you must see it in the theatre or you're cheating yourself out of a truly amazing movie experience. The characters are developed and then integrated well with each other. The acting is on point by every one in the film. The dialogue is fantastic and takes on a very rhythmic pattern with great one-liners all the way through. The action scenes are plentiful and unmatched, particularly the climactic main one. The action sequences are sewn together and don't give that confusion to the eye that a lot of current day visual overloads tend to do. It is a vibrantly colorful film throughout and makes you want to leave the theatre, walk back to the box office and get back in line for the next available showing. Simply put, a masterful cinematic achievement in every way. And this is coming from a very picky movie snob...

Really enjoyed this movie. They placed some funny parts in the right place's. Had the theater laughing for a while. Loved the bow, super cool how he could select different heads to fit the arrows depending on the need. Nice to see a girl in a kick ass part. She could hold her own and with no super powers. You really wanted to hate Lokie(Sp) love when the Hulk got a hold of him. Too Funny. My son want to add the flier and the battleship to his Christmas list. Not a toy but a full size one since he is 15. LOL told him to ask Santa.
Would see again, was a fun way to let off steam form a busy week.

I loved this movie. It was action packed, entertaining, funny, well directed, and just fantastic. Joss Whedon has come along way from Buffy and Angel! I can't wait to own it and see it again!
