Confession, I collected the Avengers comic books as a young adult. However, no matter if you collected comic books or not, this was an outstanding movie. It was grand, epic. It was funny and entertaining. It had a great story and was fairly true to the comic. It felt like a poor man's Star Wars in many ways. And since Star Wars was one of the greatest movies ever, I think that is high praise. I would say this was the greatest comic book movie of all time. The Dark Knight may be the best movie made from a comic book character, but The Avengers was the best movie, by far, when replicating the comic it came from. The special effects were amazing. Captain America during the fight scenes actually did all the stuff he would do in the comics and it looked real. The Hulk and Iron Man were hilarious. I can't recommend this movie enough. You will not be disappointed. Even the slightly slow moving beginning is necessary plot development and is very entertaining.

Thought it would be tough to top the Iron Man movies. This one did it. The back and forth between the super heros gave a bit of humaness to them. Story was typical for a comic book movie. Action and special effects were on the bleeding edge, where you'd expect them to be. Fantastic experience. I may have to go back and see it again.

If you're a Fan of The Avengers, this is a must see. Great action, comedy and visuals. This is a movie that has to be seen on the big screen, IMAX 3D the best. Can't wait for Ironman 3, Thor2 and Captain America2, and hopefully AVENGERS 2.

Great movie, but don't waste your money on seeing it in 3-D. There aren't that many scenes that look good in 3-D, and while the glasses fit much more comfortably than the old cardboard ones, they make the screen very dark. I thought the whole movie was taking place at night. It's like sitting in a dark living room watching TV with your sunglasses on.

This movie had me at the edge of my seat and trying to figure out who the true villain was. I loved finding out how dark and devious the villain truly was...who is more powerful than an Asgardian? The humor in this movie was unsurpassed and the action was incredible. I really have not seen a better movie. I can't wait for something new. There was surprises and dialogue that just left you wanting more.

Not much to say other than if you are a Marvel fan this is a must see. It is exactly what we all have been waiting for. You have to watch it in the theater. You have you buy it when it comes out. You will watch it over and over when it hits the tv years from now. It takes a few minutes for it to get going, but just like a rollercoaster when it get going you'll having the time of your life. Now if you are not a marvel fan, well watch it anyway. Great cast, great special effects, and a decent story. Very entertaining.

This movie was too much of a good thing that worked against it for me. Story line was too thin. The special effects were more of what we have seen before and became boring after a short time. Movie critics gave it a good rating and I disagree. The movie story line had so much potential and it did not deliver. It seemed to focus too much on special effects rather than developing a story line to integrate all the Heros into a cohesive team of "Avengers". It was a good concept, but it did not deliver. Actors were great but it was truly a waste of good actors on such a poor movie. I will say for those "Marvel Hero" enthusiasts that this is the movie for them. However, for those looking for a little more substance, you will be disappointed.

Having some most of the separate character movies leading up to The Avengers, and the varied quality of them , I wasn't sure what to expect. Iron Man was, of course, the strongest and Downey,Jr does not disappoint in this movie. He also gets the funniest lines. I was surprised that I believed Scarlett Johanson as a superhero. There was some complexity and emotional depth to Black Widow. I enjoyed all the characters, even Thor who is likable but I think the weakest written. Loki was an fantastic villain and not a one-dimensional bad guy. The action was fast paced and exciting. My 15 year old daughter and I went to see it together and we were both glad we spent the money!
Pros well paced, great actors

This was much better than expected, the fight scenes were awesome and engaging and the story stayed on topic and was exciting to follow the entire way through, two thumbs up for this epic movie, I recommend that EVERYONE goes and sees this movie!!!

I saw it in the real D 3D. At first I was looking for the special effects from the 3D. Once the action starts in the movie, you become part of the movie. There were quite a few scens that were shot as if you were in the action.
I was not sure I was going to care for the Hulk as part of the group, but it would not have been the same without him.
I was a big Marvel comic fan in my youth and saw the latest Ironman , the Hulk , Thor and Captain America films It was a great movie for me and left me wanting to see more. Captain America was one of my favorite Avengers in this film.
This is a must see for anyone who enjoyed any of the other Marvel movies.

Loved this movie...It was a bit slow in the beginning but it definitely made up for that as the movie progressed...The cast was fantastic and Sam Jackson was just as marvelous as the Avengers! Robert Downey Jr. is made to be a super hero...My childhood fav has always been Thor but the rest of the cast made it difficult to be loyal. This is a Must See!
