I went not knowing what to expect, and left 100% entertained. It was so nice to watch a movie where the dialogue was understandable, the plot was interesting, and the actors were excellent. Olivia Wilde in a roll that is perfect for her (and her amazing eyes), Jeremy Irons was amazing, it was an academy award sleeper, you heard it here 1st
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Interesting movie with an intriguing storyline and good acting. Not predictable as so many other movies are...held my interest and kept me thinking after it was over. It's a grown up movie.

The ending left you thinking good and bad. If they made Olivia Wilde more of a character instead of a groopie...and lingered more on the photo in the book...it would have been better. The last sceen needed a rewrite but the rest of the movie was very very well done.
Pros great story
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I didn't know much about this movie going into it. I knew it was about a writer who finds an old book and passes it off as his own. However, that's just a small part of this intricately woven story of love and the profession of writing and storytelling. First, there's the past: an American GI in Paris falls in loves and experiences some truly difficult relationship traumas. He temporarily separates from his wife and pours his heart out on the page and completes a terrifically personal novel. The next storyline is the story within another book, which is essentially the main storyline of the movie where a writer passes that American GI's novel as his own, sells it, and it becomes a huge seller. The original author, the American GI, shows up to confront the fraud to further advance the story. Finally, the third and final layer, which serves to tie all the stories together, is of another author telling both stories, the one of the American GI and the fraud, as the author of yet another novel. It sounds like it could be difficult to follow along, but it's really not. The pace is enjoyable and suspenseful and it all just works well.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Loved this movie, very intricate and fun to discuss at dinner afterwards. I think there are more levels and messages than many people recognize.
Sweet and entertaining but also thought provoking.

Bradley Cooper plays Rory Jensen who perpetrates a writer. While on his honeymoon in Paris, his new bride (Zoe Saldana) purchases an old leather satchel for Rory as a gift. Hidden in one of the pockets of the satchel is an old manuscript.
Rory finds this manuscript and reworks the story a bit. It is then published and becomes a best seller. The original writer (Jeremy Irons) of the manuscript recognizes his tragedic story. He finds Rory and tells him the details of his story and Rory then realizes he made a HUGH mistake in publishing the manuscript as his own work. The story unfolds from there...
"The Words" is a very boring movie. There are a lot of heavy hitters in the movie, but none of them resconate on the big screen. The movie is disjointed and contains a lot of holes.
I found "The Words" to be a complete waste of money.
Cons slow, boring
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Continuously intriguing but ultimately only semi-satisfying. It has a lot going in its favor...(but) the payoff isn't as good or effective as it could and should have been. Still, I can recommend it to moviegoers hungry for thought-provoking fare. A strong drama that may seem simple at first, but it's likely to leave you wondering whether what you watched was real or whether the various stories were all just layers of fiction. A must see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
