"the sessions" is a great little movie, with an indie vibe that reminds me of a time not that long ago when small thoughtful films were plentiful. the film explores the taboo area of sexuality of the disabled, and the message is, they are just like you and me. people with disabilities have desires and need physical love, just like everyone else. it's such a brave but simple statement.
the film is well acted, john hawks is funny and endearing, helen hunt is insightful, nurturing, and looks amazing. william h macy is brilliant, as usual, as the priest living vicariously through the accounts of a disabled man's sexual adventures. it is amazingly well written and directed, and it has a funny, real, up-close kind of feeling to it. i really liked it.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, different point of view
Yes, I recommend this movie.
