The dialogue and story are excellent. It's easy to follow and entertaining through-out. In fact, it gets better as the movie progresses. Some of the early scenes seemed a little awkward and the chemistry between Mike/Matt and his girlfriend character is a little off, which makes the ending story result good. Who cares about "effects" - this isn't Batman.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, storyline, writing

Mike Birbiglia's first foray into the film industry is a complete success! Very funny, heart-felt, entertaining, and never boring, this mostly true story about "Matt Pandamiglio" becoming a comedian and an adult (kind of) is a flick with very few flaws. Go out and watch it!!

Birbiglia successfully turns his standup comedy into a fun movie. He is likable and funny in this film just as he is doing standup. Lauren Ambrose and Carol Kane are also very good and help make this relationship / career start story fun to watch.

mike bribiglia made an interesting debut as a director and screenplay writer, he has a distinctive voice and i look forward to seeming how it continues to develop. some editing choices disrupted the narrative flow a bit, and i didn't care for lauren ambrose's portrayal of bribiglia's girlfriend but bribiglia's film overall felt fresh and i enjoyed seeing how his storytelling translated to the screen.

Amazing movie, fantastic story. Could not have had a better time. I am a longtime fan of This American Life and Ira Glass <3 and even if you're not familiar with TAL or Ira, you will love this movie. The story was interesting, funny and emotional. Again, go see it.

I really, really enjoyed this movie. Glass and Birbiglia strike a keen balance throughout avoiding treacle and sentimentality, and supporting actors are phenomenal!! The first of I'm sure many great collaborations between This American Life and contributors.

This isn't about plot so much as it's about the journey. It's a "what's going to happen next" drama, with comedy on the way. Mike's stand-up is excellent. Lauren Ambrose is a fine actor. And it's good to see Carol Kane again.

This was one of the best comedies I've seen in years. It's similar to a Woody Allen film in some ways, but it's friendlier, homier, more relatable... I can't think of many people who wouldn't enjoy this movie!
