Good illustration of Detroit today. Exposes Detroit much like Slumdog Millionaire exposed the city of Mumbai; accurately and in its current reality. Detroit is 90% poverty, however, the producers, for balance and to put the movie in context, should have included or exposed a few of the perils : shopping on Saturday morning in Eastern Market, the Club scene that 59% of the young people that have moved back into the city are enjoying, the downtown sports venue (Lions, Tigers, Wings), DAC, DIA, Riverwalk, Slows BBQ, The London Chop House, MGM Casino. Not compelling enough to bring my generation back to live in the city as a white male that was raised and went to school in Detroit, but there is hope.
Pros well paced
Cons doubt anyone not from detroit will be interested
Yes, I recommend this movie.

It was breath taking. Everything was real and raw. This movie made me think deeply about things I'd only ever considered in a few randomly passing moments. Detropia paints a very clear and very real picture of the inter workings of our society. It shows plain as day the road we will travel down if we don't reconsider our actions (or lack there of). America needs to see Detropia, the world needs to see Detropia.
Pros well paced, great story
Yes, I recommend this movie.

If you see one film this entire year, go see Detropia. If you are an American citizen, go see Detropia. The film goes to great lengths to tell the story of our fellow citizens without spoon-feeding the audience an agenda, pointing the finger at one political party, or blaming someone. It's not about Democrats, it's not about Republicans, it's about our neighbors. You connect with every character in the film because you know that person, you've grown up with those people. You relate to their problems because it's your problem too. Your heartbreaks one moment, and you are falling out of your seat laughing the next.
The visuals are a spectacularly-crafted work of art, the score is haunting and beautiful, the poignant storytelling will touch you deeper than any Hollywood, indie, or any other film in-between. Go see Detropia in theaters now.
