Richard Gere plays a mogul on the verge of selling his empire when a series of unpredictable events send his life into a dangerous tailspin. His house of cards is in danger of collapse, but this is a movie of gray and not black and white. The cast and performances truly make this story superb. Its not another Madoff tale, yet it resonates through the story. Stuart Margolin as his attorney and Tim Roth as the detective are simply perfect in their roles. And let's not forget Susan Sarandon, who elevates a minor role into a great performance. First time director Jarecki has quite a future in front of him. Though not riveting or classic, this is a serious adult story of our times well worth viewing.

While Richard Gere is fine, it's the story and the performances that make this film a fine nights' entetainment. Specifically the orbiting cast is among th best I've ever seen: Tim Roth, Brit Marling, Nate Parker and, above all others, Stuart Margolin as the lawyer.
The plot revolvs around the pull between loyalties, money and family and what some are wiling to do to keep or dispatch each. Despite a speech tht Gere gives in which he is uapologetic about his lust for money he does car for is wife, his lover, his children and his friends. The question is where do each of these fit in his chotic life?

Does the punishment fit the crimes? The character survives but the presenter's attitude in the final scene tells it all.
Superb and fully believable acting by almost every character. You will remember little scenes and comments with Why?s and What if's.

Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie did not deliver. The issue of fraud was not explored meaningfully. The soap opera-esque drama overshadowed was better suited for a novella. Spoiler alert...the ill-doings of the "villain" were sugar-glazed by making Gere look like a good bad-guy. Similar to "Unfaithful", where the husband goes unpunished for murder, this film fails morally, factually, and dramatically.
