This was a good movie based on an actual family during the era of prohibition. It moved well, kept you interested from the opening scene until the ending scene. The acting was top-notch, but if you want to see an actor just totally walk all over the other actors around him, go and see this movie. Watch Tom Hardy. You know his character isn't a bad or ruthless man. But he portrayed this character as cool as anyone has ever played one. Sean Connery as James Bond, Bogie as Rick Blaine, James Cagney as Rocky Sullivan, you name one, and I guarantee you won't find one that was cooler and more in control than Forrest Bondurant. A piece of acting worthy of a Best Actor nomination if I've ever seen one.

I do not want to give anything away so I will make this short and sweet. I have been waiting for this movie since I saw the trailer earlier this year. The main attraction was the all star cast that was selected for this film. Needless to say, the acting was incredible, the best part of the movie. The part of the movie that really fell short for me was the story line. I wish they would have elaborated more with the different situations, struggles, amd relationships that were touched on during the film, I feel that they could have gone more in depth with the story. Other than that I think that it was a good movie and would recommend it to anyone.

If you like a good ole fashion bootleg/ gangster movie full of grit, violence and legend; a story that makes you wish you could kill the villain yourself, you'll like this movie. A bit raw at times but not too much. Just enough to get its point across. It has it's slow moment but not enough to complain about it.

Lawless kept us sitting on the edge of our seats! Great story, acting and production. Photography was really good too. Although violent, it was realistic for the times and since we were so into the story, it didn't really bother or offend us. Highly recommend it!

Yeah it was good. Very rough though. The acting was great with Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy and the rest. The story was good but I thought the script/screenplay lacked a bit in some parts (a bit bland/dull) but it wasn't bad. That's just what I thought. Good length. Very wicked things happening through the plot and quite disturbing at some times. Overall it was good.

Set in the 1930's in Franklin County Virginia, "LawLess" is about the Bondurant Brothers (Forrest, Howard and Jack) who run a backwoods restaurant/general store. This backwoods store is a front for their real business which is bootlegging. They package up their booze and make their deliveries in the wee hours of the night.
The local sheriff and his men have take bribes and left the brother to their own devices. When a Chicago lawman (Guy Pearce) comes to town and tries to put the brothers out of business a war erupts. The story unfolds from there...
"Lawless" starts off boring and slow. The first 30 minutes will lull you to sleep, but all of a sudden the movie picks up and is like a run away freight train flying down a dirty track. The violence is gruesome and bloody. The movie is just "Ok". It's not as interesting as I had hoped given the cast. The dialog of the movie leaves something to be desired. At times it's difficult to understand what is being said.
The paid critics were "luke warm" about "Lawless", so am I!!!

Lawless is a beautiful film that's violent as hell, striking in a way only unfiltered Americana could be. An enthralling mixture of lyricism and curdled blood, the film is at once heartfelt and wrenching, quietly ominous and literally cutthroat, a western-gangster-saga in a vein both classic and modern. A great deal of rowdy, crowd-pleasing fun, and there ain't nothin' wrong with that. A must see.
