I should start by saying that I did not pick this movie to see, but was glad to have seen it. Not only was the story interesting, but the actors did a great job (although I have to admit that I was waiting for Shia LaBeouf's character to be a little more of a fighter.) The actor that played Forrest Bondurant, Tom Hardy, is definitely on my list of actors to look for in future movies as he was very convincing in his role.
I have definitely decided to want to read the book that this is based on as I want to know more about the Bondurant family, and their involvement in the moonshine industry during Prohibition. This was a great movie.

Thoroughly enjoyed the film. Great plot and acting. Fast moving despite its depiction of a slower-moving past.
Be warned. It is EXTREMELY gory. Violent in a sadistic kind of way, not the usual shoot 'em up, blast-anything-that-moves kind.

Really thought it was going to be a lot of action & shooting....but was so taken by surprise when found out it was a true story.
Then really began to get so involved in the movie didn't want it to be over when credits started rolling. Kept my full attention from acting, story line & action!!! Wish more movies where done this way!!

I enjoyed the movie. It was bloody, but it was a reflection of the times. Apart from the rough, bloody taile there was story of a family that caught your heart.

While the acting by the entire cast is top notch and the story somewhat interesting it moves at a snails pace. The dialect is well done, but extremely difficult to just plain hear st times. I noticed people all around me, of all ages, asking their seatmate what was said, and there was constant movement in and out of the theater. It also seemed to be a re-heated story very reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde and the Hatfields and McCoys. However, as I said, the acting was extremely well executed and the visuals interesting.

Its about time someone made a movie with something about Prohibition, and to put it out as REAL LIFE. With how people actually interacted back then. The language, violence, and everything else. It's about time someone put it out "how it was" and not suger coat it.

This was a good movie based on an actual family during the era of prohibition. It moved well, kept you interested from the opening scene until the ending scene. The acting was top-notch, but if you want to see an actor just totally walk all over the other actors around him, go and see this movie. Watch Tom Hardy. You know his character isn't a bad or ruthless man. But he portrayed this character as cool as anyone has ever played one. Sean Connery as James Bond, Bogie as Rick Blaine, James Cagney as Rocky Sullivan, you name one, and I guarantee you won't find one that was cooler and more in control than Forrest Bondurant. A piece of acting worthy of a Best Actor nomination if I've ever seen one.

The movie was a boring western but westerns are always boring. I would recommend only to fans of western movies. Shia was great as always and Tom was good for the role.

I do not want to give anything away so I will make this short and sweet. I have been waiting for this movie since I saw the trailer earlier this year. The main attraction was the all star cast that was selected for this film. Needless to say, the acting was incredible, the best part of the movie. The part of the movie that really fell short for me was the story line. I wish they would have elaborated more with the different situations, struggles, amd relationships that were touched on during the film, I feel that they could have gone more in depth with the story. Other than that I think that it was a good movie and would recommend it to anyone.

If you like a good ole fashion bootleg/ gangster movie full of grit, violence and legend; a story that makes you wish you could kill the villain yourself, you'll like this movie. A bit raw at times but not too much. Just enough to get its point across. It has it's slow moment but not enough to complain about it.
