Great movie. A tiny bit slow in the middle. The acting was first-rate. The story was fantastic and it was REAL, it didn't take the "easy" way out with dialogue or endings. It was pretty unique. It will make you think.

Sometimes when your not expecting something good, something great happens. I thought I was just going to see another movie comedy and it turned out to be a great movie.Especially when you have issues in your own life...it was a Great escape.

I watched this film with my mum (who is a huge De Niro fan) thinking that it may give her a glimpse into what it's like to be bi-polar (which I was recently diagnosed with)
Surprisingly enough, this modern love story manages to educate those who are not familiar with the subject matter in a very humorous way through characters that we can ALL relate to

What a great movie. Hits all the notes and never gets preachy. Jennifer Lawrence is amazing, big fan. The hole cast is great. It's a well balanced movie that doesn't try to fix these dysfunctional characters it just shows you how they choose to live there lives the best they can. As crazy as that is for them. Run to see this film.

The rawness of "Silver Linings" leaves the viewer no relief. EVERY character is disturbed, loaded with painful anxieties, or quietly miserable. If it gets better after the first 30 minutes, I wouldn't know, because after the third huge 3-a.m. screaming scene (disturbing the family's entire neighborhood), I was out of there. Life provides us with enough anxiety; I made a mistake paying to receive someone else's. On the one hand, it was too believable; on the other, the script seemed from the "Juno" every-character-has-a-schtick school of writing. I laughed at mentions of DeSean Jackson, like any Eagles fan might; but the audience seemed to laugh at aspects of the characters' torment that didn't seem funny to me at all.
Cons unbalanced, take sedatives with you

You could subtitle this "Crazy Boy Meets Crazy Girl", but that is only part of the story!
With tight scripting, excellent directing, and great casting, writer-Director David O. Russell captures a wild, crazy, yet still quite touching tale of two broken-hearts, Pat (Bradley Cooper) and Tiffany(Jennifer Lawrence) who are in desperate need of repair.
While jogging, he meets his "match" in Tiffany, who eventually convinces him to partner with her in a dance contest. The contest ironically becomes part of a larger wager involving his dad, Pat Sr.(Robert De Niro), a bookie by trade!
Throughout, the delicate story of several characters with various types of mental illness is handled very adeptly by all and creates an often riotously funny and sometimes touching tale of people trying so hard to cope with their inner conflicts with the outside world.
Cooper, Lawrence, De Niro and Russell all deserve Oscar nominations for their respective contributions to this thoroughly engaging film!
