It was a good movie. In the format of troll hunter(in the way its filmed) which I'm not sure I like, but I didn't mind that. I really liked the actors and characters, but it was kind of depressing with the main actor's dad: an alcoholic abusive father, and his sickly dying mother. With a lot of death, and a movie that makes you think what the imperfect human world would do with absolute power (it comes with destruction as my world history teacher says). It was a pretty good movie with it's in-depth message if you take the time to think about it.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

I decided I liked this movie when they stars do something that is a super hero fantasy for all teens. It's worth seeing the movie just for this part.
This is one of those films that I think they will get right in the sequel.

Once in a while I like to go to the movies and pick a "wild card". You know, a move you've heard nothing about and just want to explore the unknown. Well that was the case with this move for me. And what a pleasant surprise! A crazy high school teenager drama/thriller/adventure all wrapped in one nice package, complete with great special effects and a story that lives and breathes the difficulties of the adolesent male desire to bed a beautiful girl and be liked by everyone else. Of course there is the dark side too...the blossom of teenage sadistic prone desires that prove to be the ultimate undoing, set in the background of an abusive looser father. Great flick...a must see for any teenager in love (and not) and anyone who enjoys movies that play on the development of good vs. evil.

... that great power does not fix everything ... and it often only serves to magnify what is wrong with ourselves and others - our weaknesses, prejudices and proclivities. Another movie filmed in the style of hand held cameras in the hands of the characters who are filming each other. The original component here is that their increasing mental powers allow them to levitate their camera(s) and have the camera capture all of the characters on film - no hiding behind the camera stuff ... at least as the movie progresses. I was surprised by this movie and liked it very much. Chronicle greatly exceeded my expectations. It is not a perfect movie as the dialogue sometimes feels forced and the editing too often relies on the "hand held thing" to skip making the right editing choice. That said - this movie is original in many aspects and it builds in its intensity and suspense. We are drawn into the lives of the 3 protagonists, we often empathize and "feel their excitement and angst as they struggle with their powers and the path they should take. Well done. A glowing, alien rhino horn up!

Great take on camera angles, solid storyline, and a really new perspective on the hero/villain story line. The author is successful in creating and showing how heroes become heroes and villains become villains. Reflectively, this movie is more of a new aged short story, with the further improved quality and story that can only be portrayed in cinema.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes sitting down and watching a film that has strong dynamic characters with a solid story line and/or loves documentary style movies, such as 127 hours, or Cloverfield.

My husband and I took our son and 4 of his friends. They boys are all teenagers. The movie moved very slowly and I thought the plot was weak. It is about 3 boys who discover a crystal like rock formation underground and begin having powers that allow them to manipulate objects,and fly. They get bloody noses when they use their "powers" and they can sense one another. One of the boys has anger issues (due the abusive relationship with his alcholic dad and he has a dying mom) which get the best of him and in the end he dies after a total destructive romp thru the city with police in pursuit. The movie never really wowed me and the boys were also disappointed. The trailers were awesome and there are a couple good scenes...but overall I expected more I guess. In some areas I was left wanting more. Some of the story line wasn't explained well in my opinion. To sum it up, this movie took elements from Superman, Hancock and Fire Starter and put them together in a way that did no justice to film-making.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
