A must see! Suspenseful, well- acted and entertaining! Great attention to detail - Costume, hair and social habits of the time - All on point. I took my 13 and 17 year- olds. They absolutely loved it. An entertaining political and social history lesson for them. It's thought provoking for our younger generations on so many levels. I was overwhelmed with questions the entire ride home.

You are a despised American during the Iranian Revolution. Your heart is racing in fear from the first moment of the film. Some comic relief occurs while plans are developed to free six Americans hiding in Canada's embassy in Tehran. Argo is magnificently acted and directed. It's a film that will hold you spellbound from beginning to end.

Suspenseful, dramatic story about a real hero who went into a hostile environment to save the lives of six Americans. Also educational about US policies that got us into the position we were in then. Wow. All I can say. Ben Affleck's Gone Baby Gone (94% on Rotten Tomato) was surprisingly good; and The Town (also 94%, and critically acclaimed) was really good — reminded me of Michael Mann's "Heat" — and truly showed that Ben Affleck had grown up as an actor and a new director. Now, ARGO, takes him to a new level. I cannot say enough about this film: smart, suspenseful, interesting, powerful. ... I remember living through that time period 1979-1980/1981, although I was just a pre-teen back then, and I truly think Ben Affleck brought the unknown amazing story behind the very well known tragic events to life in a way that was brilliantly done to make you feel "present" as if YOU were one of the six Americans in hiding. Just go see this movie. You'll be glad you did.

Remember when Iranian Revolutionaries stormed the American Embassy in November 1979? "Argo" is about the situations that led up to, during and after this awful event.
During the rioting and chaos 6 Americans were able to escape and find refuge with the Canadian Ambassador. However it was discovered by the revolutionaries that some of the Embassy staff was unaccounted for. Worried that they may be found and executed, the US Government calls extractor Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) to get the refugees out.
Tony's plan is to pose as a Hollywood producer who is scouting the location to film a movie and plans to use the refugees as his crew. The story unfolds from there...
"Argo" is based on a true story. The movie is executed brilliantly!! The attention to detail is astounding. It's "Dark, Intense and Sometimes Comical".
For those of you who do not like a lot of profanity in your movies, BEWARE, the "F" word is used constantly. Sometimes it's funny, but most of the time not so much.

What can one say, truth is often stranger than fiction and Argo proves this out. The cast is amazing, while I am not a Ben fan he pulls off the role well. The supporting cast is superb, this movie took me back to the moment and I was on the edge of my seat even though I knew the outcome.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, not the same old movie.
Cons i think they underplayed the level of violence.

Saw the information on this event first in the Spy Museum in Washington before I knew it was going to be a movie. A tribute to the real heroism that goes on 24/7 by Americans you will never know.
Real drama-no sex, no cartoons, no fictional super-heroes, no fantasy or science fiction, and just a little cussing. For once, a movie anyone can relate to and enjoy!!!!
