I thought was very good. I came from a relationship of an alcoholic husband and could relate to the movie and wanted to cry at the end when he was with his son.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I came into the theater -- I thought the movie would be primarily about the actualy flight...but it is really about the reflective journey of a passenger on the flight (I don't want to give too much away). The audience laughed and gasped -- everyone was clearly "into" the movie. It poses very good questions to think about. Oh -- & I would NOT bring my children under 18 to this movie - full-frontal nudity and tons of drug use are throughout.

Denzel's acting ability stands among the finest and in this regard, the movie does not disappoint. However, the power of the story line is unevenly distributed. The gripping opening scenes on the aircraft leave you breathless yet from the mid-point on, the movies loses force and whimpers to a ho-hum end.

Flight is not a movie for anyone looking for a "feel good" action/disaster movie. But it is a superbly acted, honest look at addiction within the context of a nuanced, compelling plot. It is far superior to the usual Hollywood formula film. It should guarante Washington and Zemeckis Oscar nominations. And did anyone else see the "higher power" motif that ran through the film?

Nice performance by Washington, Cheadle and Reilly. The crash scene is quite intense. It won't make you want to get on an airplane very soon. The premise also makes you wonder. Some scenes drag a bit. Some scenes are there and necessary to tell the story, but the storytelling seems forced and obvious. However, all in all, entertaining. Definitely worth seeing.

For Denzel this takes u back to Training Day. It's not typical Denzel. As usual he puts his all into the part. He shows that he can step out of his comfort zone. This time around he has a drinking problem and he hits the line as well. Even tho he drinks and takes drugs he still is one hell of a pilot. Until the plane is faulty that he's flying. Then he finally realizes that he has a problem and takes action in the end to fix himself. The ending could have been better but I'd recommend.

Mr. Washington was masterfully brilliant in his portrayal of "Whip Whitaker a commercial airline pilot. Whip has an addiction to alcohol and drugs, but so far he's managed to complete his flights without incident.
Whip's luck runs out when a horrific mechanical malfunction of some of the planes hydraulics sends his place hurling through the sky toward the ground.
Shocked and shaken Whip decides to give up the alcohol, but when the NTSB starts to investigate the crash and the events that led up to the crash, Whip finds himself out of control. The story unfolds from there...
“Flight” has excellent acting and a great cast. This is Denzel Washington's movie from start to finish.
My only problem is that the plane crash sort of takes a back seat to the addiction that Whip has. Not enough attention was given to the other survivors of the plane crash.
To sum things up, "Flight" is about Heroism, Addiction, Recovery and Forgiveness.

Denzel is one of my favorite actors, but this one was a little rough. Opens with him in bed with a female without much care, dealing with ex on the phone, and drowning problems in substances. People supposedly knew of his problems, but let him carry on and endanger themselves and others. Despite that he landed a plane as no one else could, the focus turns on his personal issues as someone has to be blamed. Quite frankly the issues with the plane noted in the maintenance log would have grounded the plane; it would not have been permitted to fly years after such notations. I would have liked to have seen in the hearing the mention of no other pilot in simulations was able to land the plane without killing all on board, but even our current legal system likes to leave out such details in order to go after someone. It is easier to go after an individual than the corporations who failed at their jobs. "Whip" supposedly has a revelation that is rarely seen in real life, yet it is good to see the moral compass win over faults. Touching, yet bothersome.

Although after the plane scene, it slows down considerably, the subject matter was compelling. I found it almost painful watching Denzel Washington plan such a role as I think of him as the strong man. But he did an excellent job of portraying the alcohol's journey into desperation and ultimate surrender. I would watch it again.

What a great movie in so many ways. Denzel was amazing as usual. The story was so thought-provoking and moving. It was entertaining and delivered in every way, including sending many important messages. Everyone should see this movie! It was over 2 hours and I could have watched another hour. The crash was just a backdrop to the story of an alcoholic. It is disconcerting to think how easily this could be happening. It gave me a new insight into the disease and that there isn't always a life changing event that begins the downward spiral. I thought the ending was great. Overall, great acting, good story, interesting and frightening. I would definitely recommend this movie.

Denzel Washington gave a great performance. Even though the movie was fiction, it was easy to see that it actually could happen.

At some point during an airline flight we've all tried not to think about what it would be like to experience the terror of a plane crash. This film brings that event to life with gripping special effects. Denzel Washington's back-story portrayal of a middle-aged commercial pilot whose personal life is in a downward spiral is both convincing and compelling. Based upon the trailer, I was expecting a thriller - and the first 20 minutes are exactly that. But the subsequent two hours focus on Washington and his rapid unraveling at the hands of substance abuse. It's a fine line to navigate with an audience - creating empathy for a character seemingly bent on destroying himself - but Washington is up to the task. The supporting cast is outstanding and John Goodman steals every scene he's in as Washington's party-buddy-on-wheels. The story line may not be uplifting, but this movie is definitely worth seeing.

Great story, great acting, great movie. I brought my 13 yr old son to this movie and he is an action freak, but both of us sat through the almost 2 and half hour movie totally enraptured.

I think the movie had a good message overall about alcoholism and drug abuse, but at times it seemed to glorify substance abuse as well. It's imperative that parents don't allow their children to watch this movie. Despite this, there were great performances by a very strong cast, and it was very enjoyable for a mature adult audience.

The movie was very dramatic and intense and Denzel Washington was superb. He could easily get an Oscar for his acting role in this. The movie paints a very dismal picture of what alcoholism and drug use is like and how it can destroy a person's life. It's a little difficult to sit through all the drugs and alcohol, but it's probably very realistic.
