It was a good movie. Great actors, and a touching story. Quite a creative story. An emotional movie in more than one sense, and is sort of rough or sad as the characters have had a tough past. I thought it had a good length to it. I thought it was funny in parts, a drama in parts, and this movie can could be actually reality as I think it was based on a true story. But overall I liked it, and I suggest it to a family although it does have some language in it, some drug use, and some sensuality as well.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The half-brother and sister in this movie share one thing in life, a terrible father. This movie is about loss, both past and present, and how it shapes and ruins our lives. Both of the main characters in this movie are failing in life emotionally. One is a recovering alcoholic and an emotional wreck of a mother struggling to keep her rebellious kid out of jail; the other is on the run from the federal government after violating serious laws on the job. The meet after their father dies, neither one knowing the other existed. Ultimately, this movie is painful to watch and you may very well shed some tears, but there's serious acting going on here and you will admire the work being done. In fact, this movie is emotionally exhausting in many way and that's perhaps its biggest shortcoming. The writer could have simplified this storyline considerably and made a much more pleasant, and still poignant movie-going experience. Anyway, it's enjoyable enough to go see and I, for one, left with a greater admiration of the talent of these actors.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A sensitive, decent, well-crafted little drama about frailty and forgiveness. It's a movie that's in a league with films from the golden age of family drama. It's weirdly refreshing that Kurtzman has used his clout to make a mid-list dramedy that feels aimed at the actual adults the cineplex rarely tries to court nowadays. People Like us is saved from melodramatic quicksand by live-wire acting from a touchingly vulnerable Chris Pine and a heartbreakingly good Elizabeth Banks. We believe we are watching people like us. It's not an entirely fresh idea but always an intriguing one and a must see.
Pros great actors
Cons slow
