I loved this movie. After reading the reviews of this movie last year, I did not have high hopes. While it did not really follow the book, I was okay with this. It kept me from knowing what would come next. While some of the details were thin, the actors kept you engaged. I loved every minute of this movie.

WWZ is suppose to be a prequel to Max Brooks book WWZ. For fans of the book, some will be disappointed that basic elements of the story have been changed by the producers to make for a cinematic friendly story. They were incorrect.
By doing this they have effected future installments to the point that they will insure major plot problems.
As a stand alone movie, it is easily the largest scope zombie picture ever made, where as most zombie pictures take place in dark locals and small confining rooms, this one is in bright light with the world as the canvas for the story.
The family story line of Brad Pitts character is unnecessary, or the fact that he is a ex UN employee. All it does is add the unbelievable detail of the fact that the US President has been eaten, the VP can't be found but the US Navy is sending a helicopter to Newark, which on a good day looks like it's had a zombie attack, to pick up Pitt and family.
As far as the zombies go they are done very well, and the action sequences and top notch.
There are some minor credibility problems with the story, and the cinematography looks like a made for TV movie.
Overall it's worth the price of admission for a good evening of zombie fun.

Action packed, full of unexpected twists, and fairly realistic, the main character - Gerry (Brad Pitt) - follows the "crumbs" to find a coping mechanism for surviving the Zombie Apocolypse. While slow in a couple spots (so I could catch my breath) the overall pace was frenetic, and the fear factor high. I'll be checking for signs of the undead in my house for a few nights I'm sure. It stays with you.

WWZ starts strong and interesting, building stress through a good score, some nice, not overdone shaky cam, and the implication of a world-wide epidemic and how it affects nations and families at its center. Still, despite this solid beginning and a series of jaw-dropping action eye-candy, the culmination of the film leaves something to be desired. It's still worth seeing, but WWZ might make audiences hunger for more.

Movie was pretty much as advertised in the previews. Nothing too gross but the bravado by Pitt was cool. Intense for my 12 year old but she loved it. It's always great to show Heroism in times of grave danger. Some people just need to step up and be brave. We loved it!

This was much more exciting than I anticipated. Expertly paced it starts quickly and never lets up. My shoulders hurt afterwards from being tense the whole time. Definitely go see this!

My only problem was I wasn't exactly thrilled with the special affects. But hey, the acting was fantastic, the movie was both funny and action packed, and there were even some spots where I jumped in surprise. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone and especially to those who love zombie movies because this one FINALLY has an original twist to it from start to finish!

I took six 12-year-old boys to see World War Z and they loved it! I'm a 40-something woman (not the typical demographic for the movie) and I really liked it too. Of course, Brad Pitt is one of my favorite actors so that helped! The movie is action-packed and creates non-stop tension. I was very skeptical about anything with Zombies as I generally see movies that are more realistic or at least probable. World War Z doesn't exactly fit that bill but I was happy to take this group of boys, happy to watch Brad Pitt, and COMPLETELY surprised that I enjoyed the movie, Zombies and all.
The plot, as you probably know, revolves around a fast-moving virus, origin unknown, that sweeps the country turning humans into Zombies with one bite. Pitt is a former United Nations investigator brought back to trace the origin of the virus in hopes of finding a cure. He globe trots around the world searching for answers while fighting off Zombies.
I kept thinking during the movie that I would have loved it (instead of just liking it) had the virus been realistic (e.g. Ebola ) and had there been no Zombies. Also I would have liked some of the inconsistencies and improbabilities removed. Could someone impaled by a piece of metal from stomach thru back actually survive without an operation, let alone simply a bandage applied on a table in an office? Could said person then quickly be up and battling Zombies again in a few days with no noticeable impact on him? How did the virus spread around the world so quickly when the average infection time is 7 seconds? The explanation was through international plane travel but with a 7-second infection rate that turns a person immediately into a gruesome Zombie, how would the Zombie get on to a plane in the first place? There are several bothersome missing details such as these. But all this said, I was really on the edge of my seat the whole movie and the boys I took kept saying it was the best movie they had ever seen.
I would love to see Pitt return as a U.N. investigator going after some real virus or solving some sort of global conflict but would likely not go back to see him fighting more Zombies.

Forget all of those pretensious, uptight, overly-critical people who can't just relax and enjoy a movie. I read the book too and I was smart enough to know, before going into the theater, that this is not the book. There are elements of it for sure, but it is great all on it's own. Great action, lots of suspense and the visuals are amazing. Everyone should see World War Z. I will definitely see it in the theater at least once or twice more myself.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

It's a extremely well paced action movie, with solid performances buy everyone involved. I believe it is the first well executed Zombie action movie (sorry Resident Evil). It's not scary and really makes no effort to be. It's a disaster movie and the Zombies are the disaster, with one man fighting all odds to stop the Apocalypse. It's fun, it moves quickly, and you won't be disappointed.

Brad Pit should have passed on this one.
Movie started strong, but, went weak. Camera work and special effects were great, but, the story was implausable and flat.
Teens will love it, adults, not so much.
There were some great edge of your seat moments, but ,overall, slow.
Zombies attack, former UN superhero genious manages to escape with HIS family while everyone else becomes a victim. Second half of movie drags and movie is anti-climatic.
Not worth the trip to the theater, wait for it on satelite TV.

Surprisingly good. Intense and well directed. I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Not the kind of movie I'd see more than once though. It was tiring.

The effects in this film will blow you away. The images of zombies piling on themselves to climb a wall is amazing.
The story was predictable and had a couple of holes in it but I don't go to watch a zombie movie expecting to see a dramatic oscar winner. There was enough twists and head scratchers to keep my interest going and enjoy the 2 hour escape. Go see it.

The story line based off a bad rabies of some sort led me by the end of the movie to want to carry dog biscuits should I ever get chased by a bunch of rabid zombies. I didnt really find any real emotional attachment to the characters. ( So what if so & so gets it ) TV Zombie/End of the World scenerio shows seem to connect much better. For VIRGIN zombie movie goers, you will like it. For the rest it was just ...ok. The trailers give you the best special effects so, you've seen them. A good Red-box DVD rental for sure. If you can wait save a few bucks and if not do the day rate!

I read the book and was really excited to see the movie. It. Was. Awful. The only thing in common was the title, name of the main character and the zombies. It was like making a movie version of The Shining, but only you kept the title and Jack, but filed a western. It was so incredibly disappointing.
