It is hard to believe that this movie was rejected by top studios in the US. I'm so glad that George Lucus took a risk and brought this story to the forefront as part of American history. Thank you, George! You have brought us many wonderful movies and this is yet another one of your greatest!
The movie is entertaining, interesting and thrilling all in one. I highly recommend it! The actors do a great job pulling you in and expressing the personalities of the characters they portray. Wow, Red Tails, you were very brave men and did very extraordinary things!

This was an excellent movie! Great storyline and intriguing depictions of heroism. Action packed with a touch of humor to keep the story sailing along. My 11, 14, and 17 year old children enjoyed the movie, but it may have been a bit too long for the younger two. It was a great follow up to the 1995 made-for-tv "The Ttuskegee Airmen" that starred Laurence Fishburne and Cuba Godding Jr.(in different role), among others.
Red Tails is a "must see", and well worth every penny of the admission price. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD. Will definitely purchase.

I enjoyed this film good action, decent acting (some could have been better but none were to bad) loved the history and the light it showed black men in (a truthful light, imperfect but determined, and brave). I left the movie and went home and did an hours worth of research just to learn more. It's a shame they don't teach this in school, as black american it should not have taken a movie to get me to REALLY realize all the good and how brave they were even when they were getting treated like crap.

This was an outstanding movie for all ages. It touched on many audience appropriate topics and was a great follow up to the previous movie "The Tuskegee Airmen" (1995). I am looking forward to more stories that celebrate these heros as well as those other heros that fought in the other branches of military. These heros that gave up everything as well as their lives to protect America and her Allies during a time when their own country did not care enough about them to procect their basic God given human rights.

It set the stage as the first of a trilogy, by introducing these characters in a PG13 accessible way. I look forward to the sequel of this true story based, memorial to a group of American war heroes that I hope we haven't seen the last of.

Although I do not like war movies, I found "Red Tails" exciting and well-acted. The flight scenes were extremely realistic. It's entirely in the moment, with no flashbacks, almost no meniton of memories. Surprisingly (to me), I really got into it. By the end of the movie, the packed theatre in which I watched it had burst into applause at least twice. I left the movie with a tear in my eye. What more can one ask? Cheers and tears! If that's not a great movie, what is?

Mille Grazie! Many thanks to Mr. Lucas for persevering to bring this story to the screen…with his own money. It's well acted, and for the most part, technically excellent. Even as a fictional depiction, with compression of time and events, and some unnecessary Hollywood embellishment, it doesn't stray too far from the real history. As a USAF veteran, and private pilot, I found the airfield and aerial scenes superb (though a P-51, which I've had the pleasure flying once, could not keep up with the German jet-powered Me-262. The Mustangs could, however, easily outmaneuver them, and they had the superb K-14 gyroscopic gunsight). My stepfather served with the 52nd Fighter Group, stationed just a few miles from Ramitelli, Italy, the 332nd's base near Termoli, the Italian town depicted in the movie. It even has the medieval tower that served as a landmark for returning pilots from both the 52nd and 332nd. Their accomplishments, the discrimination they suffered, and the appreciation these men finally, and rightfully earned from their white comrades are accurately portrayed, too. They paved the way for President Truman to desegregate the Armed Forces in 1948, and for the later Civil Rights movement. I met several of the Tuskeegee Airmen who were with the 332nd at Ramiltelli, some years ago at the premiere of the HBO movie of that title. They honored me by signing the movie poster. A well-earned salute to them, and to this movie.

I saw it and liked it. I am very familiar with the real story having met several of the Tuskegee Airman who live in SoCal and also having seen a couple of documentaries on the subject. I thought this was a good dramatization. Stayed true to the essence of the historical fact with enough departures to make it commercial. I recommend it.

Thanks to George Lucas for having the courage and the resources to deliver this movie. The cast was excellent, the aerial scenes breath taking, and the costumes helped us to remember a time when men in uniforms were considered worthy of respect. This movie is the perfect stepping stone to more conversation about equality, historical correctness, and the validity of Martin Luther King's words about character. Great Job by all!

Red Tails is a good movie. It was funny, engaging, and entertaining. There wasn't a lot of depth of character development, but it was still a good movie and a good story. I would go see it again in theaters. It was nice to see a movie with a predominantly Black cast that portrayed a message of strength and patriotism and brotherhood.

This was a fitting, contemporary tribute to the valiance, bravery, honor, ingenuity, and intelligence of the Tuskegee Airmen.
It did as good of a job as could be expected for a PG-13 rendition of racial segregation in the context of WWII.
My biggest critique surrounds the absence of Black women in the film. Surely the wives, mothers, sisters, and friends of the Red Tails played a more powerful role than depicted.

God Bless you Mr. George Lucas for standing alone for 23 years to produce a movie Hollywood would not help you with because of the all Black cast. Red Tails was truly a labor of love! Working as you stood alone to make a dream of yours (and others I am sure) become masterpiece (another I might add) of yours filled with truth - Red Tails is a story for all to see! Thank you man! Thank you God! I know you wanted to give up George Lucas - but you didn't. Seeing the movie reminded me of some of the stories my dad, my late husband and uncles told me about how blacks were treated in the US armed forces. I knew George Cooper (one of the TAs) who lived in Dayton and have I served in various capacities for the Tuskegee Chapter in my town (Alma Clarke and Brenda Robinson). I cried when Joe Little got killed and when Gannon was found to still be alive. I cracked up too, I was on the edge of my seat, then I would chill. It was a roller coaster movie to say the least! It was just so real.
No weapon formed again you George Lucas will prosper - that is in the WORD. You are a vessel that God used (and uses) and I thank you for producing a movie that will not show our minority children especially young men - with their behinds showing and in a NEGATIVE WAY! These were heroes and men of standard in spite of their challenges and/or the COLOR of their skin. They could not be ignored then and we won't be ignored NOW - they had to FIGHT. And yes we still have TO FIGHT - any ethnic group that has endured injustices - we have to fight, but right now I am talking about my people, the Negroes, the Blacks, the African Americans - and so on and so forth (still don't know why we had to change the name of our ethnicity so often - smiles).
So with that said I leave you with this "I will like you - I have an Aspiration to always be an Inspiration b4 my Expiration! Fight on George Lucas - You got the Help you need!!
Dear Lord Bless Mr. Lucas as he continues his journey, give him peace and good health, prosper him as only YOU CAN - use him to your glory to share HISTORY and truth, entertainment and bring social issues to the forefront. Bless him now Lord. In the name of Jesus I pray with POWER, PURPOSE and every PROMISE in your WORD. Amen!

I saw the Tuskeegee airmen. I thought the movie came off as cheesy, and low budget. I thought the actors were all above the dialog, and the in-flight commentary sounded like a sound byte straight from the WWII propaganda films of the era.
When I saw the previews for Red Tails, the shots of the aerial combat scenes were what drew me to the movie. I was hoping that this movie would be different from the first, and w/ the talent in the movie was expecting a really different outcome.
I was wrong. W/ the exception of the CGI effects, (which were very cool) the actors all came off as campy ( especially the always pipe biting, half smiling character Cuba Gooding Jr. played)
The same "Take that pretty boy!", or "This ones for Lighning!" cockpit commentary was equally cheesy as it was in the first.
There was no Character development like there was in Saving Private Ryan, and because of that, it really didn't grab you emotionally.
If you want to see it better go now, I don't expect it to last beyond a few weeks.
