I enjoyed this movie. I actually went back and second time with my mom and saw it. We both had a great time. It was and still is a beautiful story about bravery, integrity, and friendship between these men.

George Lucas should be proud of how he told the story of the brave and underrated Tuskegee Airmen who helped fight our fight in WWII. There were amazing action sequences and even a love story in Red Tails. The story has been done before before never with so many great actors and with this budget. Lucas financed the entire film and for good reason. Lucas along with the wonderful actors such as Terrance Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr, Tristan Wilds, and many more showed how GREAT those men were and how important their roles were in the war. The characters draw you and the visual effects keep you entertained the entire film. Please support the movie and go see it with your friends and family to help everyone understand how important this is to OUR history!

This is one of the most inspiring and delightful movies I've seen in some time. The cinematography was superb and the plot really drove you to love, care and connect deeply with each and every character. Now I'm a caucasian fellow, and have always made it a point to learn of the African people's flight over such cruelty and ignorance. I am always saddened seeing how poorly those Americans were treated and cheer when it's over come. I am not ashamed to say when things started to turn for the men in the movie, my eyes did well up proud that they succeeded and sad that they even had to. Just an absolutely wonderful tale of how they had to fight a two sided war. On one side the Germans and on the other prejudice. Now just imagine how much easier that war would have gone had they been embraced as brothers in arms from the start.

The movie concept was very good. The opportunity to "re-present" this very important historical event was important to do. The movie was poorly acteed and the actors were miscast. The story had so many story lines, it was distratcing.

Excellent Movie. Gives an abbreviated view of the challenges and injustice experienced by African American pilots of that era. However, above the bigotry and injustice, the movie provides outstanding examples of courage and leadership. This is a must see movie that ALL Americans will enjoy.

I was really excited to see this movie. However, the movie sadly disappointed with it's cheesy acting and scenes,poor story telling,and seriously bad movie lines like the part the pilots say" I hope we fly with those red tails again". Just bad, bad and more bad. The only thing I liked about the movie were the good acting from actors like Cuba Gooding and Terrence Howard who were sparsely in the movie. I kept thinking,"Wow, was this REALLY a movie produced by the great George Lucas?" I can see why no other studio picked it up after watching it. It was because it was far from excellent and no other reason. I would have loved this movie if it had been done well, but it wasn't. Save your money.

Awesome! Very well done. The dogfights were very realistically done and not at all cheesy. Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. are at their best! The character development was first class and the sub-plots hinted of even more story than could be told in one movie. I think George Lucas and the entire crew did did the Tuskeegee Airmen proud.

This is a wel-intentioned but very flawed movie. My only real complaint is Terrance Howard's scene-chewing overacting.
This could have been a great one but the director was obviously in over his head and the script needed smarter writers.

Excellent Movie. I saw a lot of the critics say the movie should have had some type of lead up. George Lucas had a hard enough time getting this done. With this showing, maybe he is in the position to get more money out of Holleywood this time around. It is an incomplete story. However, this is a business, so lets see what Holleywood decides.

Of course this is my opinion, but there was no lead up to the pilots deploying overseas. Such as: Life before they decided to become pilots. The recruiting process or the events that led to the experiment. A quick peek into the meetings that led up to them (govt) deciding to let blacks fly airplanes. A quick timeline: Sports would have been a great way to do this. Jesse Owens comes to mind. NFL, where there blacks in the NFL at that time, NBA and MLB. A tie in to show the young generation where this nation was at this time. Who was President? Etc. Was surprised the Italian mom showed no resistance...was this true? Was the United States the biggest of all racists? Show more of this in the movie if it was the case. Great for Black History Month though and will force me to do more research of my own.

The real story was very compelling and I'm glad the movie was made, but I felt the characters were a bit over the top. I think they could have down-played the dialect, as well as the overly dramatic characterization of key figures. The last 10 minutes were the most well written and best portrayal...
Overall, I would recommend it because it is still a story that needs to be told and the big screen is the perfect venue!

This is a fictional story told in typical George Lucas style of the Tuskeegee Airmen of WWII who fought both racism and Nazis as they distinguished themselves as the best fighter squadron of the war. Although totally predictable and a bit on the light side, this is a powerful story that is surprisingly wonderful to watch. Both the human drama of the individual stories of the African American airmen as well as their amazing dog fights are compelling and masterfully done as you would expect from the man behind Star Wars. You'll find yourself routing for the pilots as they establish their personalities on the ground and in the air. The true history of the actual Tuskeegee Airmen may not have been as theatrical as this film, but this version should do them proud. A big thumbs up!

I really enjoyed this movie. Especially being an African American man. We live in an age where movies are based on fantasy, and make believe superheroes. It's nice to see real American heroes that look like me. Although I am disappointed in some of the comments people have left in regards to the special effects. This is a movie about WWII. the 40's. The special effects spoke volumes about the types of planes and technology that was around back then. I guess people assume that since George Lucas was involved, that there should have been X-wing fighters, and even a cameo appearance by Darth Vader or Chewbaca. I think George Lucas did an excellent job, along with the cast, and crew. I am that much more proud of my heritage. And I am thankful that Mr. Lucas had the courage to tell this story. Not everyone wants to see African American men dressed like women, or playing thugs, pimps, or dirty cops.

Red Tails was a great adventure. I knew about the Tuskegee Airmen, but seeing their story dramatized made it come to life. It had everything- action, adventure, a love story, and lots of drama. The cast was excellent. We owe these men a great debt for their contribution. The scenery and the flight scenes were fantastic. Kudos to George Lucas for getting this movie made. I hope he makes millions off it.

The movie is based on a very interesting story, which unveil a dark facet of the Second World War: the place of African-Americans in the military in combat roles. Unfortunately, the storyline was poor and the special effects were disappointing, given that this was a movie signed by George Lucas.
The actors tried their best to bring life to a poor scenario and they must receive credit for their performance. Given the subject of the movie, this is a 'must see' movie.

Although not completely historically correct, it is an excellent depiction of what really happened. Cast works very well together. The aerial combat scenes are some of the best I have ever seen.

Enjoyed this movie! The acting and directing were great! In my theater the sound seem a little lacking on some of the fight scenes. Lucasfilm was the creator of THX so I expected more in the audio department. I am not sure if it was the theater or the movie but I got used to the sound after a while. Other than that the action was excellent and the characters really draw you in to the story. I definitely recommend seeing this movie.

It was a good movie, but it seemed to drag in places. I loved the dog-fighting. We had 7 people in our group men, women and kids ranging from 10-65yrs old. Everyone thought it had a tendency to drag in places, and 2 hrs was long. I did like this movie and would recommend it.

I definitely loved this movie. It was important that my youngs sons see this film to see the struggle and sacrifices made so that they can have more options. This was clearly portrayed in the film.
