I enjoyed Red Tails. It wasn't my favorite movie of the year or anything along those lines, but it wasn't terrible. The story line was great and I liked the choice of actors for the main roles. It felt very "Star-Warsy" to me during the plane battles, which I guess makes sense since they happen to be directed by the same guy.
I also felt the motivational speech could have been more developed. It felt like it was missing something... like maybe it needed to be a little longer. Overall, Red Tails was a good movie with some great actors. It had some romance, some humor, and action.

I liked it. I was wanting to see this movie for awhile now and we finally ended up going to it. I liked the action with the dog fights and the pilot stuff. Good acting, humorous parts here and there, sad times, and they even managed to throw a romance in there too. Sad at the end, but they ended it with a happy note. Lightning was pretty cool, but a bit arrogant as well, but yeah anyways-good movie overall.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The critics rated it poorly, but they're sooo wrong. It's amazing. If you have a father or grandfather who was in WWII---take them. Take your kids--let them see what our troops do to keep freedom alive and kicking in the world. The only remotely negative thing I can say is that I felt the ending was kind of abrupt.
Incidentally, the planes these guys flew, won the air-war for us! Don't wait for video---you HAVE to see it on the big screen!

The story of the Tuskegee airmen had previously been told in a 1995 HBO movie, but in this version, George Lucas gives it the kind of presentation that can only be done in a feature film. Those who have already seen the 1995 movie will recognize a few incidents here and there, but there is also a lot of new material. Above all, the movie is an exploration of how the Tuskegee airmen conquered the prejudice against them through the sheer excellence of their own performance, while at the same time striking a blow at the philosophical roots of Naziism when the planes of the Third Reich were so devastatingly defeated by pilots who were decidedly non-Aryan.
