This was a very good movie,funny,sad,action,easy to follow.Im not sure why some gave this a bad review but you wont be disapointed in seeing.If you like cars there is also a great car chase scene I could watch over and over,with real sounds not fake ones.

The story doesn't connect clearly enough. The depth of the motive for the particular murder is not developed far enough. Thus an incomplete story.

The plot is all about twists and turns in a defense attorney's investigation of a mass murder comatose sniper suspect that is only recognized by clandestine military detective Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise). However, this is just another entertaining lightweight action film that you'll forget fairly quickly but enjoy for the moment. Reacher thinks out of the box and turns heads wherever he goes. He is Tom Cruise after all. What really helps is when Robert Duvall appears and adds his acting chops to an otherwise predictable role. I would rate the action on a par with a TV show like NCIS. Cruise is comfortable in this role and plays it with a sense of self mocking humor. This is no Mission Impossible nor is it on a par with any of the Bourne films. Yet, its two hours you won't regret, but its also two hours you probably won't remember in a month.

This was a great old style action movie. Realistic unlike the mission impossible series. Loved Tom which haven't done in ages. Even the car chase was good, no stupid flying car stunts.

Tom Cruise is great, as usual. He's just a great actor. The storyline...well, I'd have to say it wasn't anything new. There've been a lot of movies with "similar" storylines. But it was still good, with a lot of action & suspense.

Excellent movie but not appropriate for children under 16. I sat next to two young boys age 8 and 10 - their father dropped them off and left to watch a different movie. Not appropriate due to violence and shooting scene at beginning of movie. Great adult movie just don't let your children watch after CT shooting.

I've read all the books and couldn't for the life of me understand why they cast Tom Cruise as Reacher. I know it's all about box office draw, but his diminutive stature was a distraction. Jack Reacher is an intimidating man, Tom Cruise isn't. I thought he added arrogance to the character that the Lee Child didn't find necessary in the books. They had the female characters practically swooning at the sight of him. Come on!
Save your money and read the book. It's a much better use of your time.

I have not read the Jack Reacher books, but love the character and Tom Cruise did it better than anyone could. Action, adventure, almost a love story. Set up perfectly for a sequel, which I hope happens and that Tom Cruise stars.

In a Pennsylvania city on a quiet day, 5 random people are shot dead. The would-be sniper is quickly apprehended and only utters one name during his interrogation, "Jack Reacher". Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) is an enigmatic ex-Army Investigator who is very good at what he does. As Jack teams up with the would-be Sniper's defense attorney (Rosamund Pike). As Jack starts to lay the foundation and put the pieces together it smells and looks like someone was framed and corruption involving a big-time construction company with a lot to lose. The story unfolds from there...
Tom Cruise plays a very good tough guy and will remind you of a younger Clint Eastwood in his "Hey Days".
The movie is brisk with plenty of action, suspense and intrigue. It's one of those "You think you have it Figured Out" type of movies, but you will find out you are wrong. Tom Cruise looks good, he definitely worked out in preparation for this movie.
"Jack Reacher" is worth the price of admission.

Went to see this movie on opening night at midnight because I just needed to get out. Not a huge Tom Cruise fan but a fan of the storyline, the movie is fairly close to the story from the book. Cruise plays a very believable Jack Reacher with enough wit and sarcasm thrown in to portray how Reacher is in the books. The military elements of the movie were not forced and had actual accuracy (rifle, reloading table, War in Iraq).
Overall this is a great guy flick, it has action, it has explosions, it has car chase scenes, snipers, bar brawls, weaponry ... what else could you ask for on a night at the movies!
Pros well paced, great story, fairly accurate to the book
Cons rosamund pike's acting just fell flat
