I was forced to go see this movie or else I was the "one who didn't want to go". It was much better than I thought. Cruise was excellent. Movie was well paced, plenty of humor and action. Very well done. Cool story with a few flaws but it was a fun movie overall. Has potential to turn into a decent series of movies. It doesn't quite carry the movie presence of the Mission Impossibles, but is well worth seeing if this type of movie attracts you. If your not sure, go see it, you will be surprised.

Truly a great action movie. Edge of your seat with great dialogue- some LOL funny- as well. Cruise does make good movies. I understand this comes from a book series; hopefully more will be made into film!

The last time I saw Tom Cruise, he was sporting hair extensions, black fingernail polish, and a monkey in tow. Loved his performance in "Rock of Ages," but it was great to see in back in his genre as Jack Reacher. The guy can still act, and his portrayal of Reacher was believable and what I would envision the character to be like. The timing on this movie was unfortunately in light of the Sandy Hook shootings, but only because of the way this movie began. The story moved along quickly with some unexpected twists and turns. The dialogue popped, and the acting (particularly Cruise) was very good. The producers did a good job of keeping the violence down to earn the PG-13 rating. Smart move because it wasn't needed in this film.

the movie's plot is OK, and I laughed out loud several times during the movie...it's really funny in places. unfortunately, i was about the only moviegoer laughing - the rest of the theatre just didn't get it. sad. if you like the genre, go. if you are a cruise/duvall fan, go. otherwise, stay away.

I was very intrigued with this movie. It isn't your typical action flick it is much more than that. It is kind of like a mystery, and Tom Cruise was awesome, I thought the story was great, and I really loved how he directed this movie. The first scene was intensely good. You for sure should watch this movie, maybe wait for it to come out on DVD if you haven't yet, but this movie had more heart than your typical action movie, if I can say that.

This was a very good movie,funny,sad,action,easy to follow.Im not sure why some gave this a bad review but you wont be disapointed in seeing.If you like cars there is also a great car chase scene I could watch over and over,with real sounds not fake ones.

The story doesn't connect clearly enough. The depth of the motive for the particular murder is not developed far enough. Thus an incomplete story.

The plot is all about twists and turns in a defense attorney's investigation of a mass murder comatose sniper suspect that is only recognized by clandestine military detective Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise). However, this is just another entertaining lightweight action film that you'll forget fairly quickly but enjoy for the moment. Reacher thinks out of the box and turns heads wherever he goes. He is Tom Cruise after all. What really helps is when Robert Duvall appears and adds his acting chops to an otherwise predictable role. I would rate the action on a par with a TV show like NCIS. Cruise is comfortable in this role and plays it with a sense of self mocking humor. This is no Mission Impossible nor is it on a par with any of the Bourne films. Yet, its two hours you won't regret, but its also two hours you probably won't remember in a month.

This was a great old style action movie. Realistic unlike the mission impossible series. Loved Tom which haven't done in ages. Even the car chase was good, no stupid flying car stunts.

Excellent movie but not appropriate for children under 16. I sat next to two young boys age 8 and 10 - their father dropped them off and left to watch a different movie. Not appropriate due to violence and shooting scene at beginning of movie. Great adult movie just don't let your children watch after CT shooting.
