No one ever said this would be the "feel-good movie of the year". It's harsh, it's brutal, it's gory, and it's heartbreaking. Liam Neeson did a great job acting, as did everyone else. Very "man vs nature". I won't spoil the message of the movie, but of you really think about everything that happens in it, from start to finish, you'll understand. Stay til after the credits - it makes more sense that way.

This isn't your typical chest thumping, man against nature, bravado movie. Each man has a developed character which makes you care about whether they live or die. Death isn't glamorized in this movie. The acting was great; no false notes that I could see. Liam Neeson has always been an amazing actor in not so amazing films. Here, he brings such a depth of humanity to this character. My nephew and I really enjoyed this.

This is the "Feel Good Movie of the Year." If you are a wolf. If you happen to be a human being, especially a human being who believes there is hope left in the world, this is one of the worst movies ever made. If you have been feeling suicidal, don't see this movie, because it might just push you over the edge. It was truly a waste of money that I could have spent better elsewhere. As far as plot, I didn't see anything unique in this movie that would make it stand out from the crowd.

Wow, a lot of mixed reviews I'm reading. I liked the movie it had a good plot, and I thought that the characters did develop quite well even though they are rough and tough guys. That is a negative for me though. When it says pervasive language it means it. They swore a ton-the f word a ton. But I block most of that out of my head. If you like Liam Neeson I suggest you go to this movie. It's adventurous and intense. The wolves were pretty sweet-in special effects. The ending was kind of dumb but I thought it was a good ending if you got it. At the end of the credits there is a very short clip. Overall a good movie.

This was so bad there aren't enough words. First off, wolves do not act like that. It was one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. The acting was okay, they all did well but the storyline was awful, the CGI was terrible and the ending was beyond horrific. Nuff said. I will never go to a Critic's choice again, these people wouldn't know a good movie if it walked up and slapped them. Go and see Underworld if you want to be thrilled and entertained.

If you are expecting this to be a fast paced action movie similar to Taken, then you are going to be disappointed and I recommend you see a different film. Based on critic reviews (my first mistake) decided to see this movie. It was way too slow! Encounters with wolves was infrequent and lacked suspense most of the time. Flashbacks were monotonous and boring after the first couple.

This was a brutal, grim, dumb, discouraging and depressing film with little to no redeeming factors whatsoever. It's poorly written with BAD CGI. If you saw the movie Open Water and hated it (which I did) then you’ll hate this movie (which I do). The only positive thing I can say about this thing is that it does make you appreciate not being stranded in the wilderness being hunted by giant wolves. Other than that, this was one complete and utter waste of two hours of my life.

I have to tell you, this is one of those films that comes along that nails it. From the very beginning, the style of the movie is captivating, and as the story unfolds becomes more and more engrossing. I could not think of a weak scene, it is done with such skill you will be surprised. Liam is at his best, he is hauntingly troubled and the backdrop is the perfect silhouette for this tale. If someone were to pitch me a story about wolves being more terrifying than Jaws, I wouldn't believe it. This one fills that void, you cannot believe how edge-of-your-seat you will be. Watch it, you will love it and not soon forget it. 5 stars, easy....

The movie was well put together. Liam Neisson was very good as usual. The story was a little predictable but overall attention grabbing. This movie breaks the Hollywood mold, delivering a different tale than the neatly-packaged, sugar-coated stories move-goers have become accustomed to. Because of this, the editing of the film leave something to be desired--the poignant moments are so lengthy they assume the audience is incapable of deductive reasoning and the ability to comprehend subtly nuanced themes. I found this movie to be entertaining with interesting dynamics amongst the initial group of survivors. As noted in the trailer (no spoilers here), the survivors are pitted against a pack of wolves (or similar species). The only disappointment to me is that the wolves did not seem real. The animators should have done better.
Who lives and who dies? How many times have we seen this used? I think of The Poseidon Adventure or similar movies where we asked that same question.
I will tell you that the usher told us to watch the short clip at the end of the credits which might provide a clue.
Also, my experience was marred by some intellectually challenged individuals sitting in front of me. They didn't understand the movie and wanted a definite conclusion on some points and ran out of the theater yelling for a refund.
All in all, not a movie for the faint of heart, but a good watch overall.

You may leave the theater after seeing "The Grey" howling with discontent .... or you may leave with a quiet appreciation for the alien landscape and human tension that writer/director Carnahan has crafted. Either reaction would be very understandable.

This movie was a total let down, no plot. One of Liam's worst movies by far. I mean, in the previews, you knew it was going to be a lot about wolf's and humans trying to survive while fighting them, but this movie has no purpose, dont waste your money, wish I didnt.

I saw the Trailer for The Gray in New York and since Liam Neeson was in it I thought it would be a great film. No way !! I like the survival twist of a plane crash in Alaska but the fight with the wolves, some being as big as a bull, was not worth the time and money. "Are you kidding me" seemed to be the response of all when we were leaving the theatre. Don't waste your cash. Even for an R rated movie the "F" bomb was used at least 500 times. Not necessary. And Liam's plea with The Almighty was a a bit out of line.
