Batman: The Dark Knight Rises was on of the best movies I have seen. It is definately the best Batman movie I have ever seen. The action and storyline was so amazing. It always keeps you on the edge of your seat guessing what will happen next. I can not wait to go see this movie again and again!

Simply put: Nolan knows how to make a film! With the Dark Knight franchise, director Christopher Nolan has shown that it is possible to create not only an amazing superhero movie, but also how to make a spectacular epic film. Don't think of this as simply a Batman movie. It is an epic drama full of stellar acting, tight screenwriting, jaw-dropping special effects, and amazing direction. All the actors are fantastic and the characters are fleshed out. Even the things that one might fear in this movie (Catwoman's costume, Bane's character, how will they end it) are met with the style and sophistication that only Nolan can bring to a film. The only hard part of this movie is deciding whether or not it is better than its predecessor.
Go and see it now! And again!

Good experience at the IMAX theater. Movie had a good storyline. And the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, gave you the right amount of "Catch your attention" and a bit of who Batman needs to fight, but did not give away the best parts of the movie like so many other trailers do. You still had surprises and something new to experience.

No - it wasn't 3D - but sometimes it seems like 3D is used as a gimmick to support an otherwise crappy movie. This movie didn't need it - it was a good movie without all the 3D and CGI gimmicks.

The movie was shot in IMAX so you expect beautiful camera work - and that's what you got. If you liked the other Batman movies in this series, this one was a great bookend to the series.

The best way to describe it I think is to say that in the 2 hours and 44 minutes of the movie - there were no good spots to take a bathroom break...

I was pleasantly suprised at how good the story was being that this is the last of a trilogy. Lots of action, great acting, and Chris Nolen is really a great Director who really gets the most out of the Imax format to show the viewer how beautiful the photography can be on the big screen.
Loved the ending, but sad to see Nolen leave the franchise.

This movie is good, but not as good as some want you to believe, and this is coming from someone that is not a Batman idol or fan. I just like to watch movies once in a while for the sole purpose of being entertained, LMSO, cry (yes, men cry too), and be amazed with excellent graphic effects and epic scenes. The dialogue is a bit monotonous for me. They try to throw some comedy in there, as well as some acting that was supposed to give you a gigle or something like that, but it does not even compare to Marvels The Avengers which drew laughs from all the theater. This movie has action, but also has drama, and plenty of it. Maybe, more than what some were expecting. This movie is between Lord of The Rings and The Dark Night. You get your action and you get your talking. Action people will be dissapointed a bit, but if you wait long enough, then you will get plenty and some crying too. If you must watch it, goes to a true IMAX theater. One that is designed from the beginning with the IMAX screen, sound and 70mm projector. This movie was ment to be watched in a very BIG screen. It is a hybrid. Some scenes were shot with a 35mm camera and others with a 70mm. Also, the bigger the screen, the less possibility is there for you to fall asleep.

If you are even slightly a Batman fan, this is an outstanding movie. I loved every minute of it...there are no dull moments. I was amazed the movie was so long cuz it did not seem like it.....will see it again in 3D......left this film with a HUGE smile on my face!

I love Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. While Joker was the best villain by far, The Dark Knight Rises was overall a better story. When you consider the fact that this was not the original script for the 3rd movie and had to be written from scratch again, Christopher Nolan and staff did an excellent job. I know a lot of people will disagree with me. This movie was emotional, action-packed, and with plenty of twists. It didn't feel like 3 hours. Tom Hardy played an awesome Bane and was more true to the character. Anne Hathaway owned Catwoman. I don't need to say anything about Christian Bale or Gary Oldman. They have been amazing from the start. If you haven't seen it, go see it. You will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed this movie immensely and found it more entertaining than either of the previous two Dark Knight films. I liked Tom Hardy's Bane character a much better villain than Heath Ledger's Joker. I especially love the little twists at the end.

Would like to have seen more of Batman but given the way the movie ended I understand why that was the case.

Bain was an unbelievable villain but didn't feel he had a purpose. Not sure why he did some of the things he did.

Overall, great flick. Total, 100% entertainment from start to finish. Only hope Nolan changes his mind and does a 4th that combines Batman, Robin and Cat Woman. Maybe agains the Riddler or the Penguin!!

I was smart enough to go into the movie knowing it couldn't be better than The Dark Knight. The performance of Heath Ledger and the story itself was just too strong in that movie. Taking that approach really helped, because it allowed me to really appreciate how great the final installment was. It did start off a little slow for me after the airplane scene, but that didn't feel to last long and by the time Batman had his first battle against Bane, the movie went into hyper tension mode and never let up. I was REALLY surprised at the performance of Anne Hathaway who I thought was a bad choice when first announced. Bane was INCREDIBLE as well as the always strong Joseph Gordon Levitt. I think was surprised me the most were a few of it 's characters/plot twists that I didn't see coming and were REALLY well kept secrets. It's very important to watch this movie before getting all of that information ahead of time. I LOVED the ending and it gave me a great feeling of pleasure to know that if it was going to end this way for Nolan, then I am ok with how he did. The door is still open for a return and if the studio wanted they could find someone to carry the torch to the next level, but if they go that route it better be someone who can try to at least maintain the bar that has already been raised and set on this franchise. We aren't ever going to accept anything less than this trilogy, so get your best guy on this one going forward or promise Mr. Nolan a check he can't refuse.
By the way, I watched it in IMAX format which is the ONLY way you should watch this movie if possible for you. The scenes filmed with IMAX cameras are just stunning. I plan to see this movie at least 2 more times in IMAX before it leaves theaters. Home theaters are great today, but can't come close to the IMAX experience. Thank you Christopher Nolan for giving the world the Batman it deserved and I look forward to your work on Superman!

Excellent movie! Great action, story line, acting. Everything about this movie was top-notch except the audio issues with Bane's voice. The storyline continuing the previous movie & in places, ties the story & characters back to, not only the last movie, but even to the first. I typically will see a Batman movie 4 times at the theater & am already planning on my next viewing of this one.

I've been fortunate enough to see this film twice. The first time in normal HD, and the second in IMAX. If you're seeing it only once, then see the standard version. While the action scenes take your breath away on the IMAX screens, you'll constantly lean over to your seat-buddy and ask "What did he say?" And I'm not talking about Bane. His dialogue is easy to make out because it occupies the main portion of the soundtrack when he's on screen. Unfortunately, every other character's dialogue is drowned out in the bombastic IMAX sound mix.
It's really hard for me to NOT recommend seeing the IMAX version because the film really jumps off the screen. You are THERE in the opening skyjacking scene, but unless you like sitting in the first four rows near the center speaker, you're going to miss a lot of the script points.
I even spoke to the manager of our local IMAX to complain about the sound. He told me it was a known issue and that they've received several complaints. In fact, the manager personally complained to the IMAX engineer who informed him that he could only make minor changes to the mix because the sound levels were locked in by Christopher Nolan himself. Wow. Thanks Chris. Loved your film, but enough of us complained about the sound to merit "rain check" tickets from the theater manager. It really diminished the experience.
I WAS sitting in the fourth row, but whenever anyone spoke in a hushed voice, and they do that a lot in this film, it was an audible blur. Since I had already seen the film in SD, I was somewhat familiar with the spoken lines, so I could mentally fill in the blanks. However, several of my friends who thought they had "great seats" in the center of the theater could only hear effects, music and strangely enough, Bane.

But enough about the IMAX sound. The movie is what matters, and what an effective piece of filmmaking it is. The performances are stellar. Hathaway overcomes the initial doubts about her casting, and Joseph Gordon Levit proves to be a better villain than any prior Batman adversary by stealing every scene he's in.
Pacing wise, you need to give the movie a while to get started. Nolan has to get all of his chess pieces on the board. The plot is dense, and multilayered, but once the game begins, some of those chess pieces will surprise you. Sure, they move in predictable patterns, but like any good chess strategy, there is some bait and switch going on, and if you've managed to stay away from spoilers, you're in for a few surprises.
As always, Nolan doesn't let script details bog down the production, so there are a few obvious plot devices and logic issues, but none of that detracts from this character-driven, mythic superhero movie that contains real emotional arcs and does the impossible by making you care about Bruce Wayne and his struggles to move on with his privileged, yet painful existence.
This is a fitting end to Nolan's series, detractors be damned, and whoever ends up in the driver's seat for the inevitable sequel/reboot has a very large cape and cowl to fill.

Revisiting the League of Shadows, who once again want to destroy Gotham, is too much like the previous one.

Having such a negative medical report, and then having Batman go out and do all this severe physical activity strained credulity.

I don't like the way the lighting is so dark everywhere & the backdrops are mostly so ugly and dismal.

Did like the love scene, tho.

I really like the guy who plays the Butler

I found out that IMAX isn't necessarily 3D, to my disappointment

Cinematography was just about right, clear, crisp credible images, not too dark--fit the interesting story line. Acting great, particularly Robin and Cat Woman. Batman could have been there more and used more things from his bat belt that gave him an advantage.

I was a little unhappy with the Anne Hatheway choice for Catwoman before I saw the movie. Not after, she was the best Catwoman yet. Loved the story, good plot twist. Bane was an awesome villian. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was a great addition to the cast. Didn't seem too long, I don't think there was anything to improve.

This (hopefully not final) chapter of Dark Night was spectacular ! From beginning to end, this was an awesome movie. The story line was perfect in tying in the 2 previous movies. The movie weas EXCELLENT!! I just hope that everyone involved reconsidered and does another one!! I took my husband and my kids and we all couldn't stop talking about it once we left eh theater!!!! Ann Hathaway was AWESOME!!!!!!!! I love Christian Bale and everyone involved!!!!!

This was such a great movie. I loved TDK, but I do agree it was long. But that's ok, cuz the more Batman the merrier. TDKR was longer, I had no idea it was over until it was. I standby my decision to reserve 70mm IMAX for the real deal.. and Nolan's Batman did not disappoint. I hope rumors of a fourth are true...:D

I thought this movie was pretty good. It definatley was not the best of the Batman installments. It was slow moving in the beginning. I like The Dark Knight better. I think The Dark Knight was better because the characters and villains seemed more real, more human. Whenever a villain is over the top, or more fictional, it makes the story less believable. Don't get me wrong, it was very entertaining, and a good wrap up for the Batman trilogy. But is not the "Best movie, hands down", or the "Best Batman movie, ever!". Please. The movie was chalked full of fillers, was drawn out at times. I would recommend the movie and I would probably see it again at the theatres, but I definately don't define this movie as epic or anything along those lines.

Without giving too much away, this was a very, very good final installment to the trilogy. The villain was intriguing, as has been the case with Nolan's films, and the effects were top notch, especially in IMAX. The only issues I had were with the story itself, here or there, but nothing enough to ruin the movie. The movie is probably and 8 or 9 out of 10, but because there are only 5 stars for review here, I chose excellent instead of just good. Strongly recommended. I'll be going a second time.
