I saw this movie with my wife, who had read the book. She knew what it was about and I did not, but I enjoyed it very much. It was a very good story and presented well. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys a great story, a rarity these days.

I really enjoyed the book and was excited to see the movie. I was disappointed with the acting and the way that they displayed Wanda's voice. The movie was way too condensed to the point where it felt rushed and lacked fluidity. Anyone who read the book knows how much was left out of the movie. Anyone who hasn't read the book would still be confused on how the feelings of the cast change so softly without proper explanation. That's the thing about making a movie based on a book. The reader is excited to see the story played out visually and is often disappointed when it doesn't turn out the way they thought it would.

I have never read the book and didn't really hear anything about the movie, but when my Aunt and I went, I was really surprised at how good the story line was. The dialogue between Melanie and Wanda got to be a little much but other than that I really liked it.

I liked the movie, I've read the book twice so I knew what was going to happen. It was good considering how condensed it was from the book. The most disapointing thing for me was Wanda's new character at the end. Totally not what I had envisioned from the book.

A different kind of romance. Very creative. The special effects were great and you get very involved in the dilemma of whether the main character should be trusted or not. Once again Stephenie Meyer shows her creativity is awesome.

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Only negative comment is the second Wanda looked really strange. Not attractive at all. Not close to what I imagined when I read the book.

I thought about giving this a three, but I was gracious enough to give it a four. Now before you freak out at me for not giving it the best rating, this is my opinion and I am also trying to help you figure out why you might like it and why you may not like it, and if it is even worth going for you to go. (I had some criticism on my last review, and I will try to make a better positive review this time around). Just because you give a movie a bad rating doesn't mean you give it a negative review. Anyways, on to the movie itself, I was intrigued with it. Although there were some awkward moments. Honestly, there were some comical elements of this movie that were made to be humorless, for the most part. For instance the inner dialogue of Melanie/Wanda. I almost laughed out loud in parts of the movie that were meant as serious. And a couple of other things I can't recall that weren't the most well executed. Surprisingly, I walked out of the theater finding myself amused and was filled with a minor enjoyment. I did find it a bit slow and boring through some of it. But it wasn't that bad. If you liked Twilight you should enjoy this, I actually prefer this to Twilight, but that's just me. If you didn't like Twilight, however, you probably won't like this and will find it comical. Some bloody violence, not bad, lots of kissing, nothing more, and that's about it. I personally didn't have a terrible time in the theater watching it, but as Roger Ebert said in his review of this film it had higher potential, and didn't live up to its fullest potential.

The acting was bad. They portrayed the story in an awful way. They changed things that did NOT need to be changed and they even added useless scenes in place of important ones. It was just a bad movie. I do not recommend it in the slightest.

There's some great material just screaming to be in the next Scary Movie series!! It was more of a comedy....although; there were a lot of people crying when I was holding back the laughter.

I'm a fan of the twi-hard series and of Meyer's books. I read "The Host" and liked it better then the Twilight series. Meyers built the charactors in interestings ways and allowed the story to build in a smooth progression. This movie was melodramtic and completely overdramatized; it did not allow the great actors involved to do their work. I caught myself rolling my eyes several times at the completely inane dialogue..the only people that would like this movie are 12 year old girls and women that need to get a life (and I'm a woman). Terrible Terrible Terrible.

If the movie suffers from one flaw, it's that it's really oriented to a teenage female audience, even more so than the book. That said, it's a much tighter condensation of the story than the book, making it possible to boil the book down to just the key elements in a reasonable viewing time. Special effects are good and the acting is well done by all cast members, especially Saoirse Ronan and Diane Kruger.

This movie was such a let down. The acting was terrible. The store was vague. The theater I was in had about 15 people in it on opening night. I felt like everyone knew it was bad and I missed the memo.

I was so excited to see this movie. Am absolutely in love with the book! I took my MIL to see it with me, she had not read the book. The movie itself was very hard to follow almost all scenes happening without any explanation. I knew what was going on from the book but my MIL couldn't follow it. At the end, she said she was waiting for it to get to the good part, and surprisingly, so was I. The acting for the most part was terrible although some of the artistic touches were amazing. It should have been made into a trilogy to add in more detail for someone who has not read the book.

I can not wait to see the second part of this saga. This movie so far everything becomes very nice all something rare in a movie, that's something that comes hard to the other sequels of this movie. Something in common with Twilight when two men in a body as we were two souls in one hahaha. In order excellent movie, crazy for more!
No puedo esperar para ver la segunda parte de esta Saga. Esta pelicula hasta el momento todo torna muy bonito todo algo raro en una movie, eso es que viene algo fuerte para las otras secuelas de esta pelicula. Algo en comun con Twilight en el momento de dos hombres por un cuerpo ya que eran dos almas en uno hahaha. En fin excelente pelicula, loco por más!

If you like gore and Aliens ripping people apart...then this is NOT the movie to see even though there is some blood shed in this one. This movie has a different way of looking at things and at the end there is a lesson to be learned. The Host will at moments make you feel on the edge of your seat, make you feel mushy inside, make you laugh, make you gasp, and make you want to cry. Is this a must-go-see in the theater?....no, not really. It will be a good watch whether in the theater or on DVD. It did lead to a funny conversation between my husband and I about if our Lhasa Apso Oreo could be in my husband's head and the conversations that would be going back and forth. See the movie and you will understand. Enjoy!
