Rene Pape was superb, very mature in this role. His agile, devilish capers are surprising & wonderful Marina P, particularly in the final act, seemed immersed in her role & sang gloriously. Jonas K's performance was more up and down but brilliant at times. The sound projection in our theater was erratic, as if certain speakers or mikes were off and on. Couldn't tell if the problem was at the Met or (more likely) at our theater. Setting the opera in the WWars did nothing for me.

The singing was superb. The staging was interesting and certainly did not detract from the singing. The interviews are always entertaining.
